Now is the time to enroll in a hunter education course, whether it is to prepare for the upcoming wild turkey hunting season which opens on March 25, or to get ready for the fall hunting season. The Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Wildlife Resources Division (WRD) offers the tools to hunting safely.

Residents and non-residents born on or after Jan. 1, 1961 and having reached the age of 12 must successfully complete a hunter education course prior to hunting in Georgia. For information about hunter education and license requirements, check the most recent edition of the Georgia Hunting Seasons and Regulations Guidebook. Hoop-It-Up, a three-on-three basketball tournament open to players ages 8 and up, will be coming to Atlanta on May 13. Teams of four must sign up by May 3. Call (800) 680-PLAY or register on-line at www.hoopitup.com The entry fee is $102 per team, $140 for Top Gun division.

The first Peachtree Eagle Classic golf tournament, sponsored by St. Paul Lutheran School, will be Thursday, April 13 at Orchard Hills Golf Club in Newnan. The Peachtree City Running Club will have its annual Kid's Fun Run Saturday, April 15. Children 5-12 will run a one-mile course in the parking lt area of the Frederick Brown Amphitheatre. the run is free but participants must have a rerlease form signed by a parent or guardian. The Peachtree City Jayhawks basketball team will hold a reverse raffle April 14. The team is raising money for players to have a chance to compete in the national finals this July in Orlando. The Georgia Chapter Certified Residential Specialists present the fourth annual Charity Golf Tournament May 3 at Lake Spivey Golf Club. This year's tournament will benefit People Making Progress, a non-profit agency dedicated to helping young adults with disabilities.
