Starr's Mill to present 'Faculty Follies' as a fundraiser

Starr's Mill High School will host its first Faculty Follies, Wednesday, April 19 at 2:30 p.m. in Duke Auditorium.

Performances for the students will include lip-synching of popular groups and comedy sketches as seen on the TV show “Saturday Night Live.”

Proceeds will benefit the Panther marching band and the Spirit Scholarship. This scholarship will be awarded to the senior marching band member who has demonstrated the most school spirit.

The winner will be awarded $300 toward college expenses, and will be presented with a commemorative plaque. The student's name will be engraved on a similar plaque to be displayed at the school.

“The scholarship isn't very large right now, but we will invest half of the proceeds each year, so down the road the scholarship will be worth quite a bit,” said kerry Wright, trustee of the scholarship fund.

Wright set up the fund in memory of his brother Jeff, who was a high school drum major and a member of the Million Dollar Band at the University of Alabama. Tax-deductible contributions to the Jeff Frix Scholarship Fund can be made by contacting Wright at Starr's Mill high School 770-486-2710.
