Easter
gala needs donation of time and money for children The Children's Restoration Network will have its sixth annual Easter Gala at the Atlanta Union Mission April 23. Activities will include an egg hunt, carnival games, a magic show, catered meal and performances by local musicians. A key component of the gala is the gift of a new outfit and shoes to each child attending. According to Cliff Kinsey, CEO of Children's Restoration Network, many of these children have never owned a new outfit or shoes and have worn only hand-me-downs. It is always a mammoth task to generate the new clothes and shoes that are needed to outfit all of the children, Kinsey said. This year we are proud to have formed a partnership with Kids R' Kids Quality Learning Centers to serve as collection sites for community donations of new clothes and shoes, he explained. Clothes will be collected through April 21 at Kids R' Kids. Merchants in the Atlanta Apparel Mart, McMahan Shoes and Sears also are lending a hand. Each year, the number of children participating in the program has increased, Kinsey noted. Volunteers are needed to help pick up clothing donations, sort and deliver the outfits. There is also a need for volunteers to help with setup and cleanup on the day of the gala. For information, or to volunteer, phone Kinsey or Jim Cox at 770-649-7117.
