Gas prices dropping slowly for price weary customers

Commuters who have been facing weekly sticker shock at the gas pump are breathing a little easier this week.

Gas prices have stabilized, and in some cases come down, over the last week according to AAA's March 28 Fuel Gauge Report.

“OPEC oil producers have approved a deal to raise output limits, however, they have not released details of their agreement,” said Yoli Buss, director of AAA traffic safety. “Most analysts have said it will take from four to six weeks for prices to react to OPEC's decision.”

Results of AAA's survey indicate self-serve unleaded dropped a penny a gallon to an average price of $1.42 a gallon. Some stations in Fayette and Coweta counties are currently selling unleaded for under $1.40 a gallon.

Last year, unleaded was selling for an average of 83 cents a gallon. At the beginning of this March, unleaded was selling for $1.38 a gallon.
