Regions
realigned for upcoming athletic year By MICHAEL
BOYLAN The proposed regional realignments have shaken up the state and it may be thanks to the Bremen High School debate team. Many of the local high schools will end up in 4-AAAAA, which will feature 16 teams. East Coweta, Fayette County, McIntosh and Newnan will all move from 4-AAAA to the new division and Starr's Mill will jump from 4-AAA to 4-AAAAA as well. The competiton will be fierce as some of the other teams moving into 4-AAAAA will be Forest Park, Mt. Zion, Jonesboro and North Clayton. Sandy Creek is on the move as well. The Patriots will jump from 4-AAA to 4-AAAA, which will feature nine teams. The Patriots are not alone in their move. Woodward Academy, Jones County and Creekside will all move from 4-AAA to 4-AAAA as well. Sandy Creek has started building the fall's football schedule, while many of the 4-AAAAA schools are waiting for the sub-regions to be decided. The proposed realignment and the schedules should be decided in the next several weeks. |
