The End: Creatures of Habit bows out

The great finales are burned in our memories.

Mary Tyler Moore flipping off the light of the newsroom, Bette Midler serenading Johnny Carson on his final show, the last episode of “Mash”...

This Saturday, Fayette County residents may feel a similar tug on their hearts when they bid adieu to Creatures of Habit after their final comedy show.

The troupe's last performance is April 1 (how fitting) at the Log Cabin on Ga. Highway 85 in Fayetteville at 8 p.m. Tickets are $5 and Creatures creator Michael Boylan promises an entertaining evening for everyone.

The group has been together for just over seven months, but it's already left a lasting impression on Fayette's entertainment scene.

The group has staged its own show, along with appearing at Stars on the Southern Crescent coffeehouse, and has brought a unique sense of humor to the south side.

Creatures is composed of students from area high schools and only one member, Zach Smola, a sophomore at Sandy Creek High School, will still be in high school next year.

The other members of the troupe will be starting another part of their life. Kelly O'Neill and Sarah Turner are headed to Florida State University, while Aron Hall has plans to study in New York.

Adam Hoffman plans to continue college and head toward a career in meteorology.

As for creative director and founder Michael Boylan, who knows?

“I could still be here or saving whales with Greenpeace,” he said.

Boylan said this show's material is stronger and funnier than previous shows, adding it's also more varied.

Audience members are invited to stick around after the show for a cast party and bid the Creatures goodbye. Refreshments will be served and party-goers also will be able to shake their groove thing to a wild mix of dance music.
