Soccer

Now is the time to enroll in a hunter education course, whether it is to prepare for the upcoming wild turkey hunting season which opens on March 25, or to get ready for the fall hunting season. The Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Wildlife Resources Division (WRD) offers the tools to hunting safely.

Residents and non-residents born on or after Jan. 1, 1961 and having reached the age of 12 must successfully complete a hunter education course prior to hunting in Georgia. For information about hunter education and license requirements, check the most recent edition of the Georgia Hunting Seasons and Regulations Guidebook. For information on hunter education courses or to find a nearby course contact the local WRD Law Enforcement Office or call 770-784-3059.

The Peachtree City Jayhawks baseball team will hold a reverse raffle April 14. The team is raising money for players to have a chance to compete in the national finals this July in Orlando. Only 400 tickets are available at $50 a piece. Prizes range from $4,000 to $100. You must be 21 or older to participate. For ticket info call 770-631-4826.

Registration is open for The Ten Star All Star Basketball Camp. Boys and girls 10-18 are eligible. For an evaluation form call 1-704-372-8610 ANYTIME.

Registration is open for the 22nd annual Bryan Adrian Summer Basketball Camp. The camp is open to boys and girls 5-19 and will be at Brenau University in Gainesville, Ga. Call 1-704-372-3236.

The Fayette County Special Olympic Committee will begin training athletes in March for its soccer program. Practices will be on Saturday afternoons at the McCurry Park soccer fields. The program is geared for those 7 to 21 diagnosed with intellectual disabilities. Participants will be taught the basic skills of soccer, participate in games with others, and receive an official uniform.

The only registration fee charged will be that the athlete has completed all necessary paperwork before participation. To enroll your child phone Anita Godbee at 770-461-9714.

McDonogh Road Baptist's Spring Golf Outing will be Saturday, April 8 at The Cedars golf course in Zebulon, Ga. Cost is $21.50 per player and should be paid by Sunday, April 2. Call 770-460-5423.

The first Peachtree Eagle Classic golf tournament, sponsored by St. Paul Lutheran School, will be Thursday, April 13 at Orchard Hills Golf Club in Newnan. Lunch and registration will begin at 11 a.m and tee time will be noon. The format will be Ft. Lauderdale with four-person teams. Entry fee is $95 per player. Call Tony Yeatman at 770-631-4714.

The Georgia Chapter Certified Residential Specialists present the fourth annual Charity Golf Tournament May 3 at Lake Spivey Golf Club. This year's tournament will benefit People Making Progress, a non-profit agency dedicated to helping young adults with disabilities. The Wendell Coffee Golf center will have a spring break junior golf camp April 3-7, open to children 7-15 at a cost of $200. Lunch, drinks and prizes are included as are clubs if they are needed. Phone 770-969-4469 to sign up.

The 15th annual Phil Peters Memorial Run will be held on Saturday, April 8 at GBI Headquarters in Decatur. Pre-registration is $15 and race day registration is $20. Call Jean Beggs at 404-244-2502 for information.

The Peachtree City Running Club will have its annual Kid's Fun Run Saturday, April 15. Children 5-12 will run a one-mile course in the parking lt area of the Frederick Brown Amphitheatre. the run is free but participants must have a rerlease form signed by a parent or guardian.
