PTC police a model for the state

In response to Carl Thompson who was complaining that Peachtree City has too many police officers patroling the streets and giving too many traffic tickets:

I wish this were the case all over the state. The Atlanta Journal and Constitution published a rather lengthy article regarding how dangerous the Atlanta highways and streets have become because the speed limit is not enforced, resulting in outrageous deaths due to accidents on our roads.

Sir, you should rejoice in the safety of your Peachtree City streets. (Besides, there are less expensive places to live.)

Speed limit signs are sufficiently posted and if you choose to drive other than the speed limit, it's your choice. If you don't want the money to fund the police department, perhaps you and the many pro-SPLOST neighbors in Peachtree City could organize and have the city use the money on your schools. Frankly, I would prefer better pay for the officers who risk their lives for you and me each day and night.

Yes, we need to do something about the police in Peachtree City. Let them teach the rest of the state something and give them a raise! Go, PTC P.D.!

We also need to slow the flow on Ga. Highway 54 between Tyrone Road and Gingercake — please!
