Mayor
shouldn't use city web site for his personal opinions I anxiously await Mayor Robert Lenox's public apology to Councilman Dan Tennant for the ugly comments the mayor made in a letter to The Citizen March 22. I won't hold my breath, however, since I doubt that apology is coming anytime soon. While I won't reiterate the mayor's comments in attacking Councilman Tennant, I think the letter showed us much about our mayor's character. Councilman Tennant has only been in office for about three months, yet he has already raised the ire of Lenox. Perhaps it's because Dan has dared to vote in a way that does not mirror the mayor's vote? Maybe the mayor just doesn't like Dan? Either way, the comments made surely don't fit the type of person that should be sitting in the mayor's chair. I later read the version of the same letter to the editor from the mayor, this time posted on the taxpayer-supported city web site. It seems that the attacks against Councilman Tennant disappeared in this version. Could it be that the mayor had second thoughts about his earlier comments, or perhaps those comments wouldn't fit on the web site? Either way, I object to the city web site becoming the place for the mayor to post his opinions. The city web site is for factual information, not one person's view of what is factual and what is not. I believe that letter should be removed immediately and that no further letters from the mayor (or anyone else) should be posted on the city site. I sincerely hope that the mayor sees the error in his ways and apologizes to Dan at the next council session. If I were a betting man, I wouldn't take a bet that this will happen.
