survivor Jerry Schemmel is featured speaker at Fellowship
of Christian Airline Personnel banquet Jerry Schemmel is scheduled to be the guest speaker at a banquet hosted by the Fellowship of Christian Airline Personnel on Monday, March 27 at 7 p.m. at the Atlanta Airport Marriott. Schemmel has been the radio voice of the Denver Nuggets since 1992. He also is a survivor of the 1989 crash of United Airlines flight 232 and author of the book Chosen to Live, which will be offered for sale at the banquet. His book chronicles the crash of flight 232 and its subsequent effects on his life. He is a highly sought-after motivational speaker. Schemmel's sportscasting career spans 16 years and includes radio and television play-by-play of college football and basketball, as well as basketball coverage for the NBA. He also spent one year as deputy commissioner and general legal counsel for the Continental Basketball Association. He lives in Littleton, Colo. with his wife Diane, seven-year-old daughter Maggie, and infant son Ryan. The first ticket purchased for the banquet is $25, with each additional ticket priced at $20. Schemmel's book is priced at $20. Early reservations are recommended and the community is invited to attend.
