Peachtree City resident Nathan Kosiba, a senior at landmark Christian School, successfully defended his 3,000-meter title at the USA Track and Field Georgia High School Invitational Track Meet March 4.

In doing so, Kosiba set a new 3,000-meter record with a time of 8:45.02. That is only five seconds off the best time in the nation and places him fourth overall.

Clark Rivers, a sophomore at landmark, also ran in the 3,000-meter event. Rivers ran a 9:30.74 which was a personal best and good enough for 11th place. Kyle Rabbitt ran in the one-mile run and placed second with a time of 4:28.09.

The Landmark track team also competed Friday evening at the Georgia High School Invitational. Kosiba helped lead the Landmark distance medley relay team to victory by running a strong 1,200-meter first leg in 3:15, giving his team the lead. Hayes Mercure ran the 400-meter leg, Blake Fertita of Fayetteville ran the 800-meter leg and Kyle Rabbit ran a superb 1,600-meter last leg in 4:25. Their time of 10:44.83 was the third best time ever run in the Dome competition.

McIntosh's girls distance medley relay team took first place as well. The team, made up of Elizabeth Gardner, Britte Hardy, Keri Pendergrass and Dana Van Winkle, ran 11:46 at the meet.

Also performing well were Peachtree City residents Eric Quint and Joseph Cawood in the pole vault competition with leaps of 12'6” and 12'0” respectively, giving them ninth and 11th place.
