Silverbacks defeat Lightning All Stars in exhibition

The Atlanta Silverbacks defeated the Lighting Club All Stars in a spectacular preseason indoor exhibition game win of 6-3 Saturday at the Soccer Center in Fayetteville.

The game evens the exhibition series between the All Stars and Silverbacks at 1-1.

The Silverbacks players put on a clinic for youth players before the game. With a crowd of over 300 people, the stands were packed and the excitement overwhelming.

“I felt it was a very entertaining game for the fans. It was good to see so many people come out and support the Silverbacks,” said general manager Mike Balson.

The Silverbacks player roster included Iggy Moleka, Jacenir Silva, Stillian Shishkov, Ahmed Moyeldin, Jerome Samuels, Guy Norcott, Guy Valcourt, Sylvan Bednar, and newcomers and local Atlanta stars Danny Care and Ramon Luna. In goal for the Silverbacks was Mike Spurling from Columbus, Ga. Silva, Shishkov, Moyeldin, Samuels, Valcourt and Care were the Silverbacks' goal scorers during the night.

The Lightning Club All Star roster included former NPSL players Franklin Mcintosh, and brothers Mo and Caleb Suri, both fomer NPSL All Star players. Suri plays for the Silverbacks, but was chosen to participate on the Lighting team for the evening. Danny Care played for the Lightning Club as a youth player, and was able to reunite with and play against his old team. General manager Mike Balson and JT Batson served as referees for the game.
