F'ville median project has become nuisance

There is nothing beautiful about the median on Ga. Highway 54. When I look at landscaping, it tells me a lot about the personality of the area and this is the most blah landscaping project I have ever seen. There is no natural beauty at all involved here.

I can not imagine the City Council wasting $94,191 on another such project. It also amazed me to see the Fayetteville fire trucks on our street getting water from the fire hydrants and taking it to water the pile of mess on Hwy. 54 last summer during our drought. I also hope there will not be the traffic backups on Ga. Highway 85 that have been experienced on Hwy. 54 due to closed lanes for work on that project.

During one such delay last summer it took 35 minutes to get from Ginger Cake to Grady Avenue. Lanes are constantly being closed for maintenance on this project and as heavy as traffic is on Hwy. 85 I can imagine what this new so-called beautification project will cause.

I love Fayetteville but as I mentioned before a City needs a personality and these projects do nothing for the beauty of this city. This is Fayetteville, not Savannah, Charleston or even Peachtree City.

These medians could be sources of beauty but whoever decided on this design did nothing to bring out the beauty of the area.

While I am at it I do have a question. What is the purpose of the sidewalk on Hwy. 85 between the traffic light at Lowe's and down towards K-Mart? It ends at the ditch and if you choose to walk from one area to the other you would have to have wings to fly over the ditch or take a chance on getting hit by walking in the turn lane. Is this just another waste?
