Church League season ends

The Fayette County Church League has wrapped up its winter basketball season.

The final games for the B-League were played last night, while the A-League finished its season last week.

In the A-League, New Hope Baptist finished the season in first place with a 10-0 record. In its final game, the team defeated Southern Crescent 62-44. Prince of Peace Lutheran (8-2) finished the season in second place, beating First Baptist last week 55-48. Southern Crescent and Braelinn Baptist tied for third place with records of 5-5, while Christ the King finished the season in last place with a 0-10 record. Braelinn Baptist produced a win over Christ the King last week, 61-49.

The B-League played two games last week and ended its season last night. Fayette Presbyterian is assured of a first place finish with an 11-1 record, after beating Flat Creek Baptist last Tuesday 50-46 and then First Methodist Friday, 49-41.

Heritage Christian and Providence entered last night's games tied for second place with identical records of 7-4. Heritage Christian beat Woolsey Baptist Tuesday 55-46, and then beat Providence Friday 64-47. Providence lost earlier in the week to First Methodist, 54-47.

First Methodist is currently in fourth place with a 6-5 record, while Woolsey Baptist is in fifth place. Flat Creek Baptist has a record of 3-4 and is in sixth place, while Lisbon Baptist is in seventh place with a 1-10 record. Woolsey Baptist forfeited its game against Lisbon Baptist last week.

The games scheduled for Tuesday night were: Providence versus Flat Creek Baptist, Woolsey Baptist versus First methodist, and Lisbon Baptist versus Heritage Christian.
