How soon we forget...

“How soon we forget.” We have all heard that phrase many times and I think the recall petition of the Fayette County Commissioners proves how true that is.

The citizens of Fayetteville have forgotten that the commissioners they elected at their last election was the best thing that could happen for the city. Harold Bost has shown his dedication to the city many times since elected in 1996 but it wasn't until Greg Dunn and Linda Wells joined him on the council that anything could constructively be done for the county. Herb Frady often supported Bost but the vote always ended three to two against them.

I can't understand why Denise Fair is filing an application to recall the commissioners because, in their wisdom, the board ruled against some of the citizen's wishes about the location of the jail.

As I understand it, it would be far more expensive to move the jail elsewhere (as there is presently a jail on that site) and since the present property owners adjacent to the jail site knew about the proximity of the jail, I see no logical reason for that being a reason to recall the commissioners, that in my opinion, have always served in the best interests of the entire county.

It's too bad we need to enlarge our jail, but because of previous commissioners, we overdeveloped, and with high density naturally crime increases.

I can only wish that the citizens involved in this recall take another look and leave the work of the city and the problem of the jail to their commissioners.

I lived in Peachtree City and was constantly aware of good decisions made by the Fayette Commission. I wish I could same the same for the Peachtree City Council.
