Gill-roys expands store and product line

Gill-Roys managers from Flint, Mi. made the trip south last month to help expand the Peachtree City store.

The managers tore down walls and added more than 2,000 sq.ft to the construction supplies store.

During the reconstruction, the store opened and with all the extra help, the remodeling only took one week. Gill-Roy's is based in Michigan and has 24 stores.

The firsts store opened in 1946 when Gilbert Morgan and Roy Trevarrow decided to start a construction supply store. The store offers one-stop shopping to construction professionals, as well as the weekend warriors who wants to fix up his home.

Although Home Depot is planning on building a store in Peachtree City, manager Tom Fancher said the expansion had been planned for a while.

“We had been planning to expand whenever our tenant moved out,” he said.

The company had been renting out space to an office products dealer in its 8,000 sq.ft. building.

Fancher also does not believe Home Depot will hurt his business.

“We have one or two stores within a half-mile of new Home Depot stores and sales actually increased in those stores. A lot of people relate to us, and if they want to compete in our are, great,” he said.

The expansion of the store enables Gill-Roys to add quantity to existing product lines.

The store is located on Ga. Highway 74 in Peachtree City.
