What
is it about city attorney that we don't get? Though I did not write either of the two letters referred to in Mr. James Webb's letter in The Citizen Feb. 23, I decided to throw my two cents worth into the mix. Mr. Webb and his law firm currently represent the city of Peachtree City and he felt a letter written by Steve Brown and another by Mildred Harris contained erroneous, false and libelous statements. [Editor's note: See letter below.] When I see an attorney quoting from the Georgia Code as Mr. Webb did in his letter, and demanding that The Citizen retract all libelous statements within seven days, I get nervous. We all know that the words I'll sue you spring forth with great ease these days, so I'll be cautious not to write anything that can be construed as libelous. Correct me if I am wrong on any of the following facts, Mr. Webb. You are a member of the board of the newly formed Bank of Georgia along with Mr. Steve Black of Pathways Communities (formerly PCDC) and Mr. Michael Rossetti of Ravin Homes. As members of the board, I would assume, each of you has a substantial financial interest in the bank. The city of Peachtree City is facing a lawsuit by Pathways Communities, Mr. Black's company, a lawsuit which you will be called on to defend the city against. I don't believe any of these statements are erroneous or false. I will attempt to draw no conclusions of any kind from the above statements, but will instead leave that to each and every individual who reads them. If I am wrong or missing some pieces of this puzzle, please share that with all of us. In closing, I wanted to throw an open question out to our mayor, city council members and other city officials. Do any of you or your families have a financial stake in the Bank of Georgia? Again, not to try to draw any conclusions but merely to make sure that the record in this matter is fully out in the open. I would hope that each of you sees fit to share that information with all of our city's residents. Steve Fodor
