percolating with local talent Cuban-born storyteller again to spin tales at Feb. 26 Stars on the Southern Crescent coffeehouse. The Saturday, Feb. 26 Stars on the Southern Crescent coffeehouse at National Heights Baptist Church will feature Cuban-born, professional storyteller Tersi Bendiburg in a return performance. Bendiburg, who represented the Southeast during the Exchange Place Event at the 1999 National Storytelling Festival in Tennessee, takes the listener to the Caribbean, Spain and South America in stories, myths and legends, scattering her tales with song. She has performed at the Midland, Texas, Festival of Light, the Cherokee Rose Storytelling Festival in Carrollton, Ga., the Jimmy Carter Library and Museum at Kennesaw State University, the Olde Christmas Storytelling Festival at the Callanwolde Fine Arts Center, Atlanta History Center, and countless other venues. Along with Bendiburg, the coffeehouse stage will present the musical talents of Ensemble pour deux (Barbara Hood and Kaylynn Davis); storytelling by Sarah Monsour, and sketch comedy by Creatures of Habit. Creatures of Habit consists of Starr's Mill High School students Aron Hall and Sarah Turner; Sandy Creek High School students Kelly O'Neill, Zack Smola and Skye Lentini; Gordon College student Adam Hoffman, and director/writer Mike Boylan. Stars on the Southern Crescent, now in its seventh season, is a popular south side event. The venue, Fayetteville's National Heights Baptist Church, is at the intersection of Old Norton Road and Ga. Highway 54. Doors open at 7:45 p.m., and the show begins at 8:15. Admission is $6 for the general public, and $4 for seniors and children under 12. Home-baked desserts and hot and cold drinks will be available. Patrons who bring their mugs from home receive discounts on beverages and compete for the most unusual mug award.
