Tigers
escape with win at Collins Hill By MICHAEL
BOYLAN
The Fayette County High School boys soccer team traveled to Collins Hill to take on the Eagles on Friday night. The first half belonged to the Eagles, as they controlled most of the play and took a number of shots. Keeper J.B. Wood, a senior captain for the Tigers, made key saves throughout the game. The Tigers got back in the game in the second half. The defense of Adam Lester, Brad West, Matt Barth, Chris Kelly and Nick Zatezalo gave the Tiger's offense several opportunities to get some good shots off. Kelly and Zatezalo made several key defensive saves, keeping the Eagles off the scoreboard. Statistically, the game was pretty even at the end of regulation. The first overtime period went the same way for both teams as the neck in neck battle continued. Finally, with 37.5 seconds remaining in the second overtime period, Ryan Terry found Nick Walloch with a cross in the center of the six yard box. Walloch punched it in, giving the Tigers the win. Ryan Terry dislocated his knee and broke his leg last season in the opening jamboree. The Tigers are glad to have him back and are surprised that he is back playing as well as he is. Fayette County hosted the Starr's Mill boys last night. |
