'Rise Up, Woman of God'... weekend conference could change your life.

By REV. DR. JOHN HATCHER
Religion Columnist

A good thing is happening among women and it especially captures my attention when the good thing seeks to unite women across denominational distinctives. It becomes even more exciting when it's not about one church women's ministry or building one pastor's little kingdom or pushing the numbers up for one particular church. It's truly exciting when it's all about the woman rising up in God through Jesus Christ.

Here are the facts: The women's ministry of Corinth Baptist Church is sponsoring a free conference to enable women to be set free from the bondage of some costly emotions like, “I am unacceptable. I am inadequate. I am not good enough. I have no confidence. There is nothing special about me.”

The conference does not have a fancy title, but simply, “Rise Up Woman of God.” Robin Dixon, one of the conference planners, said that the title theme came from the reality that God comes to each woman individually and each woman has to respond to God out of her own set of emotional needs.

Jean Stephens will serve as conference speaker and will lead in Friday night and Saturday morning sessions, April 7 and 8. Mrs. Stephens is an international Bible teacher and has impacted many lives through her seminar called, “The Crucified Life.” The women of Corinth genuinely seek wide participation from many churches and denominations.

The five sessions will be: Wilderness Living; Rejection; Body, Soul, and Spirit; Out of Adam, Into Christ; and, Crossing Jordan. Any woman from planet earth reading the topics should realize the conference at least promises to be relevant. That's my passion. That time should not be wasted. Today's woman just does not have six hours to throw away during the weekend.

Conference leaders contend that too many women go through their Christian life living out of their emotions. One day up on the mountain. The next day in the valley. The conference addresses the emotional- based life with the alternative crucified life, based on Galatians 2:20— “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.”

This free conference begins at 7 p.m., Friday, April 7, resumes Saturday,April 8 at 8 a.m., and concludes that same day at noon. You can contact conference leaders direct through E-Mail: robindixon@mindspring.com or lindaldean@mindspring.com.

Corinth Baptist Church (serving both Clayton and Fayette Counties) is located at 398 Corinth Road located between Ga. Hwy. 85 N and Ga. Hwy. 54 W. Rev. John Jenkins, a prince among pastors, has served at Corinth or more than 10 years.

Let me encourage the women of south metro to take advantage of a mighty valuable opportunity that will cost you nothing but could mean everything.

The Rev. Dr. John Hatcher is pastor of River's Edge Community Church in Fayetteville.
