The state basketball tournaments begin this weekend and four local AAAA teams will be extending their season and playing.

The teams will play their first round games at Baldwin High School in Milledgeville.

The McIntosh Lady Chiefs will play Northeast Macon Friday at 4 p.m. The remaining three teams, the East Coweta Indians and Lady Indians and the Fayette County Tigers, will play their matches Saturday.

The East Coweta boys will face Southwest Macon, at 5:30 p.m., following the East Coweta girls game. The Lady Indians will face Westside Macon at 4 p.m. Fayette County's boys will meet Warner Robins Saturday at 8:30 p.m.

If you are planning to drive to Baldwin High School, be sure to give yourself approximately three hours to make the game. The easiest way is to travel down Ga. Highway 92 south. Travel to the end of Hwy. 92, which will intersect with U.S. Highway 19/41. Bear right and then take Ga. Highway 16 east out of Griffin.

You will ride on Hwy. 16 for a long time, passing through Jackson and Monticello. Take Highway 212 south from Monticello to Milledgeville. When 212 dead-ends into Ga. Highway 22, turn right at the light. As you start up the hill, get into the left turn lane and turn left onto Blandy Road (there's an old textile factory on the corner. You'll pass several schools. Stay on Blandy until it dead-ends, and you'll see Baldwin High School on your left.

Gas up before making the journey, as there are points of the trip where there is not much around.
