Spring
is just around the corner for gardners January was a busy month at the Fayette County Extension Office. Master Gardeners, Master Composters, and junior and senior 4-H'ers participated in Keep Fayette Beautiful's Christmas Tree Recycling program. More than 20 extension volunteers helped bag seedlings, counted trees, distributed the Recycling Guide to Fayette County and hauled trees to the chipper. More than 6,000 trees were recycled by county residents. Family and Consumer Science offered an occupant safety training class for child care givers, hosted by Ann Ricker, educational program specialist, and presented by Sharon Conrad, occupant safety Coordinator. Suzanne Rocus, horticultural program assistant, reminds gardeners that the Fayette Institute of Gardening Knowledge will once again present gardening classes beginning in March. Sondra Edwards, environmental program assistant, will offer master composting classes in the spring. Phone Sondra Edwards at 770-460-5730, extension 412, for information.
