Blue's Clues brings magic to stage

Do you have a preschooler in the family? If you do, you probably know Blue, a fun little puppy, and Steve, his friend in the green striped shirt.

“Blue's Clues” is a popular interactive television show for children on Nickelodeon. It is currently the most watched preschool show on TV with over seven million viewers a week.

Children are given clues and asked to help Blue find certain characters, objects or places. Along with Blue and Steve, there are other friends who appear frequently on the show, including Mail Box, Slippery Soap, Tickety Tock, and Mr. Salt and Mrs. Pepper.

All of these characters and some new ones will appear at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta Jan. 12-16 for “Blue's Clues Live.”

“Blue's Clues Live” blends the action of the show with what will likely be the children's first experience with theater. Each child in the audience will get a notebook, used to interact with Steve and Blue and find clues during the show.

“With `Blue's Clues Live,' we're introducing preschoolers to the magic of theater while encouraging the same interactivity, enthusiasm and play-along spirit that we have with the TV show,” says Angela Santomero, one of the original creators of the hit series and author of the show.

Santomero collaborated with Gil Hoppe to create “Blue's Clues Live” and to make the most interactive children's theater presentation to date. Show designers all have Broadway experience. David Gallo, the set designer, recently designed the sets for the Broadway revival of “You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown,” while Greg Barnes designed the costumes for the “Wizard of Oz” at Madison Square Garden's theater and “Rugrats - A Live Adventure.”

“For many children, this will be their first experience with live theater,” said Hoppe.“ So we've created a smart, charming play that really speaks to children. And we hope that `Blue's Clues Live' inspires them to see even more theater.”

“Blue's Clues Live” will be presented Wednesday through Friday at 7 p.m., Thursday at 10:30 a.m., and Saturday and Sunday at 11 a.m., 2 p.m., and 5 p.m. Ticket prices range from $14.50 to $24.50 and can be purchased at the Fox Theatre Box Office or by calling Ticketmaster at 404-249-6400.
