Harold
Bost will serve as chairman of the Fayette County
Commission again this year.
Commissioners
last week voted unanimously to reappoint Bost as
chairman and Greg Dunn as vice chairman. The
commission chooses its own leadership each
January for the coming year.
The
group also appointed members to the same
committee posts that they held last year:
Commissioner Linda Wells to the Board of Health;
Commissioner Glen Gosa on the Water Committee;
Bost on the Insurance Committee; Bost and Dunn on
the Long Range Planning Committee; Commissioner
Herb Frady on the Association County
Commissioners of Georgia.
Commission
meeting schedules for 2000 also are the same as
in 1999:
Workshops first
Mondays at 3:30 p.m. These meetings are intended
for routine matters, and public comment isn't
taken unless invited by a department head or
commissioner. Official action can be taken, but
public hearings are never conducted during
workshops.
Business meetings
second and fourth Thursdays at 7 p.m. Public
comment is taken during these meetings, and
public hearings often are conducted. Also,
residents can schedule time to appear before the
group to discuss matters of concern.
Meetings
may be cancelled, and special called meetings
often are conducted. These will be announced in
accordance with state law.
In
other reorganization business for the year 2000,
the commission authorized the chairman, vice
chairman and county manager to sign checks
exceeding $5,000 (two signatures are required),
and authorized the county manager to conduct
transactions of less than $5,000.
