Helen Sisson, 92, Newnan, formerly of Hapeville, died Dec. 1, 2004. She was born in 1912 in Fulton County, the daughter of William and Lula Mae Walker. She was married to Carlos Sisson for 24 years until his death in 1959. She was a lifetime member of Hapeville Presbyterian Church, where she served in many positions. The family lived at one time in Fayetteville and had many friends here. She spent most of her life in Hapeville, moving to Newnan in 1998 to be with her niece.

Graveside services were at Westview Cemetery, Atlanta, with the Rev. Fred Whitehurst officiating.

Survivors include a sister, Florence Reichmann, Knoxville, Tenn.

William Blair “Bill” Newton, 87, Sharpsburg, died Dec. 3, 2004. He was born Jan. 3, 1917 in Choteau, Mont., son of Guy and Jeanie Nell Newton. He was graduated from Atlanta High School, Atlanta, Kan. He moved to Wichita and then served in the United States Army in the Philippines in World War II. He worked for the Beechcraft distributor at Southern Airways, later Hanger One, at the Atlanta airport where he became an Aircraft Maintenance Manager. Retiring in 1983, he moved to Sharpsburg where he enjoyed farming and working at his church.

Services were at the Carmichael-Hemperley chapel  with the Rev. Mark Anthony and the Rev. Dr. Joel Richardson officiating. Interment was at Westview Cemetery, Atlanta. A memorial service will be held at a later date at Trinity Fellowship, Sharpsburg.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Dorothy Watkins Newton, Sharpsburg, whom he met in Wichita; sons, Neil and Harriet Newton, Sharpsburg, Alan and Elizabeth Newton, Suwanee, and Michael and Greta Newton, Morrow; a daughter, Leslie Rose, Douglasville; sisters, Rita Naylor, Irving, Texas, and Nellie Turpin, Yuma, Ariz.; and 11 grandchildren.

Lucille Stamps Jeanes, Red Oak, died Dec. 5, 2004.

Services were at Carmichael-Hemperley chapel with the Rev. Dr. James Donovan officiating. Interment was at Forest Lawn, College Park.

Survivors include a brother, James Stamps, Geneva, Fla.; and a sister, Margaret Owen, Orlando, Fla.

James Davis Massengale, 76, Senoia, died Dec. 6, 2004. He was born Aug. 8, 1928 in Fayette County, son of Jim Lee and Elsie Claire Jones Massengale. He was retired from Ford Motor Company and owned and operated Massengale Grocery Store, Senoia.

Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with the Rev. Ronnie Whitlock officiating. interment was at Senoia City Cemetery.

Survivors include his sons, Mike and Rose Massengale, Senoia, and Mark Massengale, Moreland; daughters, Lynda and David Allison, Moreland, and Lynn and Andrew Cook, Sharpsburg; brothers, Wilbur and JoAnn Massengale, and Johnny Massengale; grandchildren, Micah Dickie, Dane Dickie, Kain Allison, Lisa Allison, and Bad Massengale; six great-grandchildren; and one nephew.

Maynard A. Hanson, 76, Newnan, died Dec. 6, 2004. She was born June 9, 1917 in Carroll County, daughter of John Robert and Mattie Lee Broome Hanson. She was an accountant for 25 years for the city of Newnan.

Graveside services were at the Antioch Primitive Baptist Church  cemetery, Whitesburg, with the Rev. Dr. Don Wells officiating.

Survivors include a sister, Grace Hanson, Newnan.
