Bad Links? | ObituariesMary Frances Foley Rounds Mary Frances Foley Rounds, 91, Newnan, died March 3, 2004. She was born April 27, 1912 in Binghamton, N. Y., the daughter of Francis and Kathryn "Kitty" Feheley Foley. She was an active Catholic all her life and a member of St. John's Alter and Rosary Society while living in Binghamton, a member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church, Fayetteville, and St. George Catholic Church, Newnan. She had moved to Georgia in 1990. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Wilbur Rounds, whom she married April 21, 1934 in Binghamton. They had 54 years together. She was also preceded in death by a son, Chuck Rounds, a daughter-in-law, Janet Rounds, and a granddaughter, Erin Nugent. Services were at St. George Roman Catholic Church, Newnan. Survivors include sons Tom Rounds and Donna Jr., Fayetteville, Jerry and Irene Rounds, Warrenton, Va.; daughters, Mary Kay Rounds, Binghamton, Pat and Ed Bendert, Fayetteville, and Sue Nugent, Newnan; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Memorial donations may be made to the Senior Citizens Center of your choice. McKoon Funeral Home, Newnan, was in charge. Fred C. Platt Jr. Fred C. Platt Jr., 88, Fayetteville, died March 7, 2004. He was born Jan. 3, 1916 in Fulton County. Services were at the Parrott Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Tommy Henschel officiating. Interment was at Camp Memorial Park, Fayetteville. Survivors include his wife, Sybil Platt, Fayetteville; a son, Fred and Cherry Platt III, Dallas; daughters, Linda and Phil Gable, Fayetteville, and Sandra Ann and Andy Anderson, Covington; a brother, Tommy Platt; sisters, Virginia Taylor and Readie Thompson; nine grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. Parrott Funeral Home, Fairburn, was in charge. James E. Petty James E. Petty, 71, Peachtree City, died March 10, 2004. He was born Oct. 29, 1932 in Independence, Kan. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with Steve Quinn officiating. Survivors include his wife, Greta Petty, Peachtree City; children, Curtis Petty, James Petty and Tony Petty, all of Peachtree City, Susan White, Ottawa, Kan., and Lisha Petty, New York; four grandchildren; and a brother, Bill Hendrix, Oklahoma City, Okla. Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Peachtree City, was in charge. Holland Chaffin Holland Chaffin, 70, Tyrone, died March 12, 2004. He was born Dec. 22, 1933 in Tennessee. Services were at the Parrott Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Ron Edwards officiating. Interment was at Camp Memorial Park, Fayetteville. Survivors include sons, Rick Chaffin, and Micky Chaffin, both of Greenville, Alan Chaffin, Tyrone, Kenny Chaffin, and Mark Chaffin, both of Grantville; and James Chaffin, Sharpsburg; a daughter, Vickie Chaffin Lewis, Tyrone; brothers, J. W. Chaffin, Crane Hill, Ala., and Thurman Chaffin, Stockbridge; sisters, Joyce Stratton, Charlotte, N. Bobbie Joyce Dokey Bobbie Joyce Dokey, 69, Brooks, died March 14, 2004. She was born May 31, 1934 in Fayette County, the daughter of Thomas Emery and Berta Lou Davis Plunkett. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with the Rev. Don Ledbetter officiating. Interment was at Ebenezer United Methodist Church cemetery. Survivors include daughters, Dorina and John Roberts, Brooks, Doretha Eagle, Omaha, Neb., and Debbie and Howell Richardson, Fayetteville; grandsons, Matt and Michelle Roberts, Columbus, and Allen Richardson, Fayetteville; a great-granddaughter, Madalyn Roberts; and sisters, Dee and James Turner, Tyrone, Kathleen and Jack Chaffin, Riverdale, and Rochelle and George Wilson, Clarkesville.
