He was born June 29, 1918 in Atlanta, the son of John William and Lula Mae Cagle. He was a veteran of World War II and retired from Georgia Power. He was born Aug. 13, 1924 in Toledo, Ohio. He served as a Navy aviator in World War II. After the war, he began a lifelong career with Trans World Airlines. During his 39 years at TWA, he served as a captain and held assignments as a check-captain, and captain for the joint TWA-Saudi Airlines in the 1970's. There were no services. Survivors include his daughter, Cheryl and Todd Strayer, Jonesboro; a grandson, Zack Strayer, Smyrna; a granddaughter, Torey and Matt Wucher, Jonesboro; great-grandchildren, Katelyn, Logan, and Brooklyn; a brother-in-law, Jerry Parks, Atlanta; and a sister-in-law, Mary Jo and Bill Walters, Atlanta.
