Janet Ann Wright, 63, Hogansville, died Oct. 4, 2002. She was born Feb. 17, 1939 in Brooklyn, N. Y. to Robert and Jennie Watson. After graduating, she moved to Sarasota, Fla., where she met and married in 1956. Her husband’s job moved them all over the United States, living in California and Texas, and eventually settling in Coweta County 10 years ago. She loved traveling and the adventure of moving to new places. She enjoyed helping others and taking care of people. Before her health forced her to retire, she was a home health nurse. She and her husband attended the East Side Baptist Church in Riverdale. Services were at the Jones Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Thomas Shannon officiating. Interment was at Camp Memorial Park Cemetery, Fayetteville. Survivors include her husband of 46 years, George R. Wright Sr., Hogansville; a son, George Wright Jr., Hogansville; daughters, JoAnn Ramsey, Jonesboro, Janet Albright, McDonough, and Judy Ann Vanya, Griffin; brothers, Richard Watson, Sarasota, Fla., and Robert Watson, Washington, D. C.; and six grandchildren. Jones Funeral Home, Newnan, was in charge.
Verna Hyde
Verna Hyde, 82, Newnan, died Oct. 7, 2002. She was born Aug. 25, 1920 in Dooley County, Ga. She had been employed as bookkeeper with the Manget Brothers, Kirby Chrysler & Plymouth, Cash and Carry Building Supply and Johnson Hardware. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Newnan, and a long time resident of Newnan. Services were at the McKoon Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Don Helms and the Rev. Danny Karr officiating. Interment was at Oak Hill Cemetery, Newnan. Survivors include a daughter, Carole and Dalton Stevens, Fayetteville; brothers, Alton and Margaret Peevy, Mt. Aire, N. C., and Melton and Avis Peevy, Newnan; grandchildren, Jason Stevens and fiancé Shantyl Cook, Newnan, and Dalton and Angie Stevens Jr., Fayetteville; grandchildren, Cole Stevens, and Sawyer Stevens; and sister-in-law, Doris Peevy, Atlanta. McKoon Funeral Home, Newnan, was in charge. Joseph Tanner Joseph J. “Joe” Tanner, 52, Greenville, died Oct. 12, 2002. He was born Jan. 8, 1950 in Fulton County. Services were at the Parrott Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Tommy Temple officiating. Interment was at Holly Hill, Fairburn. Survivors include his wife, Sandra Worrall Tanner, daughters, Tonya and Jerry Garner, Luthersville, and Tracy Tanner and Richard Crawley, Greenville; his mother, Avanelle Bryant Tanner, Newnan; a brother, William and Virginia Tannery, Whitesburg; and six grandchildren. Kittie Ballard
Kittie Maude Ballard, 91, Newnan, died Oct. 14, 2002. She was born May 21, 1911 in Catawba County, N. C. Graveside services were at Oak Hill Cemetery, Newnan, with the Rev. Searcy Jackson officiating. Survivors include daughters, Dollean Daymude, Augusta, Ga., Ann Hopkins, Lilburn, and Betty McCormick, Newnan; seven grandchildren; two brothers; and one sister.
