Warna Kay Williams, 78, Newnan, died June 5, 2002. She was born Aug. 20, 1923 in Edge Hill, Miss., the daughter of the late John and Clara Akridge. She was preceded in death also by brothers, Wendell Akridge, J. M. Akridge, Kenneth Akridge, and Lendel Akridge. She was graduated from school in Ellington, Miss. and later lived in St. Louis, Miss, where she worked at the Small Arms Munitions Plant during World War II. She then worked until retirement in 1985 at White Rodgers, a division of Emerson Electric. She moved to Newnan to live with a daughter and was a prayer team coordinator and care taker for babies in the mothers morning out program at Crossroads Church, Newnan.
Fannie Maude Eidson, 84, Newnan, died June 6, 2002. She was born Dec. 27, 1917 in Georgia. She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Travis Eidson, and a son, Caswell Edison. She was the choir director at Arnco Baptist Church for 28 years, and she and her husband had children in school for 42 years. She knew Sacred Harp music and was a faithful supporter of her husband’s ministry. She was retired from the textile industry.
Harry Thomas Grizzard, 73, Newnan, died June 9, 2002. He was born July 7, 1928 in Coweta County. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Velma Grizzard, brother, Charles Grizzard, a sister, Nell Jones, and a grandson, Anthony McKoon. He was a member of the Sargent Baptist Church.
Ruth Genevieve Collins, 81, Moreland, died June 10, 2002. She was born Sept. 26, 1920 in Harrisburg, Pa., the daughter of Charles and Alta Russell. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Newnan.
Frances Vivian Schofield, 81, Grantville, died June 12, 2002. She was born May 26, 1921 in Arcadia, DeSota County, Fla. She was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice Randolph Schofield Sr. She was retired from sales in the insurance industry.
Harriett Marie Fletcher, 47, Newnan, died June 13, 2002. She was born Nov 22, 1954 in Fulton County, the daughter of Carl and Evelyn Deleshaw.
