Mary V. Griffin, 84, Union City, died May 2, 2002. She was born June 19, 1917 in Fulton County.
Services were at the Parrott Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Jim Ellison officiating. Interment was at Fairburn City Cemetery.
Survivors include a son, Glenn and Vickie Griffin, Senoia; daughters Sandra and Durrell Franklin, Prattville, Ala., Nancy and Jim Cashon, Riverdale, and Glenna and George Reimel, Stockbridge; a sister, Ruth Honea, Fayetteville; a sister-in-law, Clara Rivers, Fairburn; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Billie Lawrence Gorman, 55, Sharpsburg, died May 4, 2002. He was born Sept. 22, 1946 in Waycross, Ware County, Ga.
Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with the Rev. Scott Davis officiating.
Survivors include his wife, Louise Gorman, Sharpsburg; a son, Wilson Gorman, Sharpsburg; a brother, Roy Gorman, Jacksonville, Fla.; and sisters, Mary Bowes, Florida, and Carolyn Harrin, Jacksonville, Fla.

Linda Louise LeMaster, 73, Jonesboro, died May 4, 2002. She was born in Douglas County, the daughter of the late Robert Lee and Inez Wright Evans. She was preceded in death by her husband, James B. LeMaster, and a son, Robert Wayne LeMaster. She was a member of First Baptist Church, College Park.
Services were at the Higgins Funeral Home chapel with interment at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, College Park.
Survivors include a daughter, Karen and Jonathan Slaton, Sharpsburg; grandchildren, Robyn O’Melia, David LeMaster, and Carol Whitt; three great-grandchildren; and sisters, Floy Burford, McDonough, Dorothy Perkins and Carol Evans, both of Florida.

Lloyd Delbert Thomas, 80, died May 6, 2002. He was born June 25, 1921 in Knox, Ind., the son of Shelby and Gladys Thomas.
He entered the United States Army in 1942, serving in the European Theatre and taking part in the Normandy invasion on D-Day, as well as serving in Northern France, Rhineland, and Central Europe. After the war, he worked in the construction industry, traveling all over America and supervising the construction of silos and mine shafts.
He moved to the Newnan area several years ago, after the death of his wife, Ruth Thomas, to be near his daughter. A memorial service is planned in June.
Survivors include a daughter, Julie Cox, Franklin; a sister, Ruby Knapp, Fort Pierce, Fla.; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Jesse Lamar Couch Jr., 42, died May 5, 2002. He was born July 13, 1959 in Newnan. He was a location manager for Austin Powder and a member of Line Creek Baptist Church, Peachtree City.
Services were at the McKoon Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Franklin Treadwell and the Rev. Terry Arp officiating. Interment was at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Survivors include his parents, Jesse Lamar and Marion Arp Couch Sr.; sons, J. T. Couch and James Ernest Couch, both of Sharpsburg; a daughter, Jessica Couch, Sharpsburg; sisters, Catherine Price, Sharpsburg, and Lisa Couch, Senoia; and a grandchild, Preston Hunter Couch.

Jimmie D. Sewell, 90, Newnan, died May 8, 2002. He was born March 16, 1912 in Coweta County. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, LaVerne Sewell.
He had served in the United States Navy in World War II. He had worked as a textile weaver at Arnco Mill.
Services were at the McKoon Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Doug Bearden, and the Rev. Marvin Gunter officiating. Interment was at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Survivors include sisters, Ethel Shockley, Whitesburg, and Lena Timbs, Marietta.
