Tommie Haynes, 75, Newnan, died April 27, 2002. He was born Sept. 28, 1926 in Troup County, the son of Unus Jefferson and Millie Weaver Haynes. He served in the United States Marine Corps in World War II, was retired from Boone Gas Company in Newnan, and was a Baptist. Services were at the Claude A. McKibben chapel with the Rev. Tony Thompson officiating. interment was at Rock Springs Baptist Church cemetery in Coweta County. Survivors include a son, Charlie Walker, Newnan; daughters, Mary Jean Scantling, Newnan, Eleanor Haynes, Marion, Ala., and Sheila Walker, LaGrange; eight grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren. Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home, Hogansville, was in charge.
Charles Thompson
Charles Thompson, 88, Tyrone, died April 30, 2002. He was preceded in death by parents, Dewey and Aley Thompson, and a brother, Darriel Thompson in Vietnam. Services were at the Parrott Funeral Home chapel, with the Rev. Ron Whitlock officiating. Interment was at Holly Hill Memorial Park, Fairburn. Survivors include a son, Stephen Forbus, Tyrone; daughters, Cassie Thompson, Gay, Ga., and Kristin Thompson, Tyrone; brothers, Bill Thompson, Grantville, and David Thompson, Dallas, Ga.; sisters, Elaine Meigs, Grantville, and Sandra Hallford, Senoia; and grandchildren, Dylan Thompson, Ansley Crankshaw, and Chloe Wallace. Parrott Funeral Home, Fairburn, was in charge.
Carol Sanderford
Carol Louise Sanderford, 50, Newnan, died April 30, 2002. She was born Oct. 30, 1951 in Dayton, Ohio, the daughter of Courtney and Helen Smith. She was reared in Dayton and loved to travel, living in Tucson, Ariz. and Vicksburg, Miss. before moving to Newnan. She had been employed by Big K-Mart, Newnan. Services were at the Newcomer-Barclay Funeral Home, Kettering, Ohio with interment at Mt. Zion Cemetery. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Rocco Francis Cox. Survivors include her mother, Helen Hooks, Manchester, Ky.; sons, Bryan McKinney, Dayton, Ohio, and Tommy McKinney, Vicksburg, Miss.; daughters, Renee Wells, Dayton, and Rhonda Cox, Jackson, Miss.; sisters, Barbara Cox, Hamilton, Ohio, Judy Smith, Greenville, Ga., Deborah Leach, Vicksburg, Miss., Gail Turley, Connie Cousins and Glenda Morris, all of Hamilton, Ohio, and Shawn Smith, Newnan; and seven grandchildren. Jones Funeral Home, Newnan, handled the local arrangements.
