George Richard Campbell Sr.

George Richard Campbell Sr., 78, Union City, died Jan. 15, 2002. He was born June 8, 1923 in Tampa, Fla., son of the late George Ira and Elva Lyman Campbell. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army in World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife, Emmaleen Shelor Campbell, in 1994. He was a member of Flat Creek Baptist Church and was retired from Morco Food Distributors.
Services were at the Thomas Funeral Home, Calhoun, Ga. with the Rev. Sandra Fendley officiating. Interment was in the family lot of Fain Cemetery.
Survivors include a son, George Campbell Jr., Woodstock; daughters Shelor C. Gilbert, Sharpsburg, Kathy Jordan, Stone Mountain, and Jennifer C. Fendley, Fayetteville; a brother, Roger Campbell, Asheville, N.C.; grandchildren John Gilbert Jr., Patrick Gilbert and Rebekah Campbell, and great-grandchildren Allen Michael Gilbert, Donovan Alexander Gilbert and Emmaleen Alexis Ehrets.

Jewel Couch Bell

Jewel Couch Bell, 74, Newnan, died Jan. 30, 2002. She was born Dec. 25, 1927 in Coweta County, to the late Roy and Bertha Chappel Couch. She was retired from the Bonnell Company and was a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Coweta County. She was preceded in death by her husband, Amos Bell.
Services were at the Hillcrest Chapel with the Rev. Mike Holdredge officiating. Interment was at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Newnan.
Survivors include brothers Aubrey and Louise Couch, Luthersville, and Jerry Couch, Newnan, and a sister, Betty Turner, Haralson, Ga.

Annie Pearl Laurent

Annie Pearl Laurent, 74, Newnan, died Jan. 31, 2002. She was born Jan. 21, 1928 to the late John Hanners and Sara Jane Long. She was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Wayne Laurent. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Services were at the Hillcrest Chapel with pastor Billy Bail and the Rev. Carl Calhoun officiating. Interment was at Holly Hill, Fairburn.
Survivors include her husband, Joseph A. Laurent, Newnan; sons James Anthony and Sybil Laurent and William A. and Alice Laurent, all of Newnan, and Thomas Eugene and Erlene Laurent, Douglasville; a daughter, Theresa Ann and Jeff Ivey, Newnan; a brother, Woodrow McVey, Linesville, Ala.; 13 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
Martin & Hightower, Newnan, was in charge.

Carolyn Rebecca Harris

Carolyn Rebecca Harris, 65, Newnan, died Feb. 2, 2002. She was born Dec. 4, 1935 in Newnan. She was preceded in death by her mother, Lois Stephens, and a child, Ricky. She was a machine operator for Duracell in LaGrange.
Graveside services were at Elim Baptist Church, Handy Road, with the Rev. Jerome Hicks officiating. Interment was at the church cemetery.
Survivors include her father, Robert D. Stephens, Newnan; a son, Jack Harris and Bill Jones, Atlanta; daughters Ruth and Ray Doyal, Tyrone, and Teresa Hudgins and Rodney Madden, LaGrange; brothers Bobby Stephens, Newnan, and Levi Stephens, Cleveland, Tenn.; sisters Floye Parker, Dot Hancock, Janice Stephens, Linda Akers and Connie Mobley, all of Newnan, and a grandchild, Jamie Hudgens.

Virginia Johnson Harris

Virginia Johnson Harris, 83, Turin, died Feb. 4, 2002. She was born July 4, 1916 in Turin, Ga. She was the only child of John Dawson and Annie Maude Johnson Jr. of Turin. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Curtis B. Harris, Dec. 12, 1985. She was a graduate of Newnan High School and a 1939 graduate of Shorter College in Rome, and a member of the Turin Baptist Church since 1930, where she served as a Sunday School teacher and assistant Sunday School pianist. She retired from the Coweta County School System in 1975.
Graveside services were at the Turin Memorial Gardens with the Rev. John McDuffie and the Rev. Howard Tisdale officiating.
Survivors include a son, John Curtis Harris, Baltimore, Md.; a daughter, Holly Harris and Tommy Milam, Turin; grandchildren Arthur Dawson Milam, Turin, now serving in the United States Navy, Jarrett T. Milam and Justin Scott Milam, both of Turin, and step-grandchildren Joe and Kay Milam, and their children, Andy and Audrey Leigh, Kennesaw, and Randy and Judy Milam, and son Josh, Grantville, Ga.

Norman Crosbie

Norman Crosbie, 47, Sharpsburg, died Feb. 4, 2002. He was born Aug. 9, 1954 in Penaq, Malaysia. He was an A and P mechanic for Northwest Airlines.
Services were at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Peachtree City, with the Rev. Kevin Peek officiating. Interment was at Westminster Memorial Gardens, Peachtree City.
Survivors include his wife, Wendy Crosbie, Sharpsburg; his mother, Winnfred Crosbie; a son, Cory Crosbie, Sharpsburg; a daughter, Shana Crosbie, Sharpsburg, and brothers Alan Crosbie and Ian Crosbie.
Memorial donations may be made to the Red Cloud Indian School, 100 Mission Drive, Pine Ridge, S.D. 57700-2100.
