Ruth S. Walker

Ruth S. Walker, 89, Fayetteville, died June 2, 2002. She was born Dec. 12, 1912 in Cleveland, Ohio. She was a graduate of Ohio Wesleyan and Western Reserve universities and had been employed as a medical technologist, science librarian and life science teacher. She had sung in church choirs for over 75 years, was past president of AAUW and AARP, was an avid artist, poet and composer. Memorial services were at North Fayette United Methodist Church. Survivors include a daughter, Tammy Coburn, Fayetteville; grandchildren, Wendy Jeffrey and Connie Smith, both of Stockbridge, and Dennis Cvitkovic, Renton, Wash.; and three great-grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to the National Osteoporosis Foundation, 1232 22nd St., N. W., Washington D. C. 20037-1292. Metro Crematory, Peachtree City, was in charge.

Floyd G. Rutledge

Floyd G. “Happy” Rutledge, 93, Tyrone, formerly of East Point, died June 1, 2002. He was born Jan. 29, 1909 in Rockdale County, Ga. He was a foreman at Piedmont Mills for over 40 years, and worked at North Brothers, Inc., for 6 1/2 years. He was a member of the East Point Masonic Lodge #288 F& AM. Services were at the Parrott Funeral Home chapel, Fairburn, with the Rev. Robert McCurry and the Rev. Ron McCurry officiating. Interment was at Westminster Memorial Gardens, Peachtree City. Survivors include his wife of 72 years, Leila Womack Rutledge, Tyrone; a son, Kenneth and Maybell Rutledge, Tyrone; and a granddaughter, Darlene and Wayne Estes. Parrott Funeral Home, Fairburn, was in charge.

Dorothy Holbrook

Dorothy Holbrook, 77, Fayetteville, died June 1, 2002. She was born Sept. 4, 1924 in DeKalb County, Ga. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel, Fayetteville, with the Rev. Fred Shelnutt officiating. Interment was at Westminster Memorial Gardens, Peachtree City. Survivors include her husband, Emory Holbrook, Fayetteville; grandchildren, Lori Wendel, and Jason Holbrook; great-grandchildren, Taylor Wendel and Makinsy Wendel; and a sister, Annette Robinson, College Park, Ga. Lawson French Bell

Lawson French Bell, 94, Peachtree City, died June 1, 2002. He was born Feb. 15, 1908 in Stewart County, Ga. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel, Peachtree City, with the Rev. Steve Bingham officiating. Interment was at Standing Rock United Methodist Cemetery, Standing Rock, Ala. Survivors include his wife, Virginia Bell, Peachtree City; a son, French and Ginger Bell Jr., Peachtree City; a brother, Billy and June Bell, Atlanta, Ga.; a sister, Sarah Bell Ashcraft, El Paso, Texas; and grandsons, Capt. Lawson and Jessica Hall, Ft. Wainwright, Ark., and Matthew Hines Bell, Portland, Ore. Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Peachtree City, was in charge.

Marcella Irene Perl

Marcella Irene Perl, 87, Fayetteville, died June 3, 2002. She was born Dec. 2, 1914 in St. Louis, Mo. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Perl. She was past president of the VFW Post Auxiliary #6197 in St. Louis, Mo. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel, Fayetteville, with the Rev. Father and Deacon Tony Cuome officiating. Interment was at Friedens Cemetery, St. Louis, Mo. Survivors include a son, Rodger and Sandra Perl, Fayetteville; and a granddaughter, Stephanie Perl, Fayetteville. Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Fayetteville, was in charge.

Samuel Phillip Martin

Samuel Phillip Martin, 86, Fayetteville, died June 5, 2002. He was born June 19, 1915 in Meriwether County, Ga. He was a member of the Covenant Presbyterian Church, Fayetteville, and the Moose Lodge, Newnan. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with the Rev. Dale Weldon and the Rev. Peter Mullins officiating. Interment was at Fayetteville City Cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Sarah F. Martin, Fayetteville; a daughter, Mary Frances and Ronald Robinson, Newnan; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, Herbert and Isabella Martin, College Park; and a sister, Opal Rainwater, Melbourne, Fla. Ida Belle Bulloch Collins

Ida Belle Bulloch Collins, 87, Atlanta, died June 9, 2002. She was born March 13, 1915 in Fulton County. Services were at the Carmichael-Hemperley chapel, Peachtree City, with interment at College Park. Survivors include sons, Robert Donald Bulloch, Riverdale, and William Bulloch, Jonesboro; a daughter, Elaine Paraiso, Fayetteville; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
