Bad Links? | ObituariesAaron Otis ‘Bo’ Ingram Sr. Aaron Otis “Bo” Ingram Sr., 81, Fayetteville, died Feb. 20, 2002. He was born March 23, 1920 in Fayetteville, the son of Lum Alfred and Mattie Lena Blalock Ingram. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bessie Raven Ingram, Jan. 6, 2002. He served in World War II as a 2nd lieutenant in the United States Army and was a longtime member of the Fayetteville Baptist Church.He was formerly chairman of the Ware County commissioners in the late 1940’s and early 1950s, was manager of Blalock Machinery in Waycross, Ga., and served as adjutant in Washington D. C. for congress woman Iris Blitch, Ware County. In Fayetteville, he served as chief of the volunteer fire department, served as a Fayette County sheriff’s deputy, was mayor of Fayetteville in the late 1960’s, was in the charter Emergency Medical Technician class in 1975 for the county, owned and operated a number of businesses in Fayetteville, including a grocery store, a washeteria, a supermarket, an TV and appliance, a florist and most recently, the Glynn Wedding Chapel.Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel, Fayetteville, with the Rev. Dr. Rick Long and the Rev. Steve Safreed officiating. Interment was at Westminster Memorial Gardens, Peachtree City.Survivors include a son, A. O. and Margaret Ingram Jr., Conyers, daughters, Judy and Tommy Rivers, Haddam, Conn., and Bonnie Epps and the Rev. Dr. Rick Long, Peachtree City; grandchildren, David and Dana Epps, Dr. Ralph and Glynn Garramone, Paul and June Johnson, Hilary Ingram, Meg Ingram, and Olivia Epps; great-grandchildren, Lauren Epps, Grace Garramone, Max Garramone, Isabell Johnson; a brother, L. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Fayetteville, was in charge. Robert Lewis Dorough Robert Lewis Dorough, 84, Fayetteville, died Feb. 17, 2002. He was born July 13, 1917 in Heard County, Ga. He was retired as an aircraft mechanic with Delta Air Lines. Services were at the Fayetteville Christian Church with Minister Bob Mahan and Minister Daniel Overdorf officiating. Interment was at Carrollton City Cemetery, Carrollton, Ga. Survivors include his wife, Margaret Dorough, Fayetteville; a son, T. L. and Jan Binkley, Ellenwood; a daughter, Janice and Clint Boyd, Jonesboro; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Milburn Dorough, Carrollton; and sisters, Geneva Golden, Tifton, Grace Johnson, Carrollton, and Sybil May, Laurel, Miss. Marcus Varna Whitlock Marcus Varna Whitlock, 81, Fayetteville, died Feb. 17, 2002. He was born Oct. 2, 1920 in Fayette County, the son of Marcus Fletcher and Lillie Ola Chandler Whitlock. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kimberly Marie Small. Services were at the Lisbon Baptist Church, Fayetteville, with the Rev. Carlton Swicegood, the Rev. Ron Whitlock, and the Rev. Randall Harris officiating. Interment was at Westminster Memorial Gardens, Peachtree City. Survivors include his wife, Lillian McLendon Whitlock; children, Joyce and Nelson Small, Fayetteville, Lynn and Oliver Gilland, Charlotte, N. C., and Mike and Susan Whitlock, York, S. She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Jurchenko. Services were at the Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Parma, Ohio with interment at the church cemetery. Survivors include sons, Andrew J. and Nancy Jurchenko, Peachtree City, and Daniel and Susan Jurchenko, Camden. N. J.; and six grandchildren. Carl J. He was born April 21, 1918 in Fayette County, the son of John C. and Essie Estelle Turner Harris. He was preceded in death by his wife, Opal Pye Harris and a son, Al Harris. He had served in World War II in the Philippines. He was a longtime member of Lakewood Heights United Methodist Church, until moving his membership to Inman United Methodist Church. He was a member of the E. A. Minor Masonic Lodge F&AM #603 and was retired as an electrical inspector for the City of Atlanta. Services were at the Inman United Methodist Church with the Rev. Doug Burrell officiating. Interment was at Sherwood Memorial Gardens, Jonesboro. Survivors include a son, Wayne and Rose Harris, Fayetteville; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Harris, Lawrenceville; grandsons, Kirk and Susan Harris, Todd and Kim Harris, Matthew Harris, Lee Harris and Tray Harris; and a great-granddaughter, Kendall Harris. Decker, 95, Fayetteville, died Feb. 20, 2002. She was born in 1906 to Edward G. and Margaret Darling Flatley. She attended Augustana College in Rock Island, Ill. She was married to Folgert Decker Jr. in Oct, 1933. He preceded her in death in 1970. She was also preceded in death by brothers, Glen E. Darling and Howard Darling. She retired from Ordinance Weapons Command, Rock Island Arsenal, Ill. in 1968 and in 1975 moved to Port Charlotte, Fla., where she was a charter member of Fawcett Memorial Hospital Volunteers and a volunteer at Port Charlotte Cultural Center. Memorial services were held in Peachtree City, Ga. Survivors include daughters, Nancy K. and Charles Addison, Fayetteville, and Mary J. Noel, Middleboro, Mass.; grandchildren, Alan Schumacher, Senoia, Michele Campbell, Middleboro, Mass., and Melissa Johnson, Port Charlotte, Fla.; and eight grand-children. Metro Crematory, Peachtree City, was in charge. James Marcus Sheffield Sr. James Marcus Sheffield Sr., 66, Fayetteville, died Feb. 20, 2002. He was born May 11, 1935 in Duluth, Gwinnett County, Ga. He was retired as a real estate agent. Services were at the Rivers Edge Community Church with the Rev. Dr. John Hatcher officiating. Interment was at Camp Memorial Park, Fayetteville. Survivors include his wife, Patricia Ballard Sheffield; children, Terri Sanford, Scott Sheffield, and Sherri Sheffield; grandchildren, Andre’s Sanford, and Devin Sheffield; his mother, Lois Sheffield, all of Griffin; and a sister, Faye Holzacpfel, Peachtree City. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with the Rev. Leroy Curtis officiating. Interment was at Lima, Ohio.
