Dorothy Mae Yearwood

Dorothy Mae Yearwood, 73, Atlanta, formerly of Newnan, died Nov. 2, 2001. She was born Sept. 27, 1928 in Coweta County. She was a retired beautician.
Services were at McKoon Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. F.D. McWhorter officiating. Interment was at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Newnan.
Survivors include her husband, Dexter Yearwood, Atlanta, and a son, Danny Yearwood.

Robert “Bob” Carson

Robert “Bob” Carson, 82, Newnan, formerly of Marietta, died Nov. 5, 2001. He was born March 31, 1919 in Marietta, Ga. He had served in the United States Marines and was a machinist for National Can.
Services were at the McKoon Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. John Riley and the Rev. Searcy Jackson officiating. Interment was at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Newnan.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Carson, Newnan; sons, David George, Merced, Calif., Robert A. Carson, Fayetteville, Ga., and William M. Carson, Griffin, Ga.; a daughter, Yvonne Harvey, Douglasville, Ga.; seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Gene Fox

Gene Fox, 61, Newnan, died Nov. 5, 2001. He was born Aug. 15, 1940 in Texas. He was retired as a facilities engineer for Delta Air Lines. He was a ham radio operator, with the call name of AAR4SX WB4UCC.
Survivors include daughters Cathy Craft, LaGrange, and Deborah Hardy, Gainesville, Ga.; a brother, Tom Fox, Collieville, Texas; a sister, Ann Boutin, and grandsons Kevin Craft and Terry Craft, both of LaGrange.

Estelle “Stella” Ivey

Estelle “Stella” Ivey, 90, Newnan, died Nov. 6, 2001. She was born Jan. 6, 1911 in Ashland Ala., the daughter of William and Susan Royster. She spent most of her adult life in Newnan. She was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, James “Jim” William Ivey; sons James Robert Ivey, John William Ivey, James William Ivey Jr., Fred Austin Ivey and John Austin Ivey; and a daughter, Mattie Ruth Sparks. She enjoyed making quilts, working in her garden and was an active disciple and member of Rotherwood Congregational Methodist Church, Whitesburg, Ga.
Services were at the Jones Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Henry officiating. Interment was at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Newnan.
Survivors include a son, William Odelle Ivey, Newnan; daughters Mildred Coursey, Luthersville and Rosalee and Bruce Coalson, Newnan; a brother, Mixon Royster, Opelika, Ala.; a sister, Leyuna Miller, Valley, Ala.; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

William Pierce Butler

William Pierce Butler, 90, Newnan, died Nov. 7, 2001. He was born July 9, 1911 in Fulton County and had served in World War II in the Army. He was retired from maintenance for Beavers Packing Co.
Services were at McKoon Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Frank Powers and the Rev. Lee Shelnutt officiating. Interment was at Oak Hill Cemetery, Newnan.
Survivors include a son, Mickey and Marie Butler, Sharpsburg; a brother, Jim Butler, Forest Park, Ga.; sisters Mallory McMichael, Rome, Ga., and Maggie Strickland, Barnesville, Ga.; grandchildren Michael and Susan Butler, Carrollton, Ga., and Joni and Lee Shelnutt, Albemarle, N.C., and great-grandchildren Neiden Marie Shelnutt, Albemarle, N.C., and Caroline Marie Butler, Carrollton, Ga.

Lottie Goodroe Harris

Lottie Goodroe Harris, 98, Newnan, died Nov. 7, 2001. She was born Jan. 7, 1903 in Coweta County, Ga. She had been a member of the East Newnan Baptist Church since 1918.
Services were at McKoon Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Frank Powers officiating. Interment was at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Newnan.
Survivors include sons Jim Harris and Tom Harris, both of Newnan; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
Memorial donations may be made to the East Newnan Baptist Church building fund, 557 East Gordon, Newnan, GA 30263.

Lester F. “Sonny” Nelson

Lester F. “Sonny” Nelson, 71, College Park, died Nov. 8, 2001. He was born July 29, 1930 in Monticello.
Services were at the Parrott Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Danny Stovall officiating. Interment was at Greenwood Cemetery, Atlanta.
Survivors include his wife, Dot Nelson, College Park; daughters Susan and Kenny Bristow, Sherman Oaks, Calif., and Cathey and Tim Upchurch, Sharpsburg; brothers Mr. and Mrs. J.B. Nelson and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Nelson, all of Montezuma, and Mr. and Mrs. Rodney Belcher, Florida; a sister, Carol and Mike Gatto, Merritt Island, Fla., and grandchildren Leslie and Deanna Upchurch, Sharpsburg, and Jesse Bristow, Sherman Oaks, Calif.

Willie V. Steadham

Willie V. Steadham, 83, College Park, died Nov. 9, 2001. She was born July 29, 1918 in Telfair County, Ga. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alburn D. Steadham, and a son. Joel L. Steadham.
Services were at the Parrott Funeral Home chapel, with the Rev. Dr. Jerry D. Johnson and the Rev. Danny Stovall officiating. Interment was at Holly Hill Memorial Park, Fairburn.
Survivors include sons Michael A. Steadham, Hogansville, Jerry O. Steadham, Newnan, and Alburn David Steadham Jr., College Park; daughters Betty Jane McAlister, Lilburn, and Peggy Wallace, College Park; 16 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
