Gerald E. Huddleston

Gerald E. Huddleston, 83, Fayetteville, died Sept. 1, 2001. He was born April 14, 1918 in Fayette County, the son of Charles R. and Murdie Aurora Roberts Huddleston. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Weems Huddleston. Services were at the Fayetteville First Baptist Church with the Rev. Glenn Stringham officiating. Interment was at Camp Memorial Park, Fayetteville. Survivors include sons, Harry and Joanna Huddleston, Brooks, and Wayne and Brenda Simpson, Hendersonville, N. C.; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a sister, Gertrue Griffin, Fayetteville. Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Fayetteville, was in charge.

Eloise Katherine McElwaney

Eloise Katherine McElwaney, 61, Tyrone, died Sept. 1, 2001. She was born March 15, 1940 in Milan, Telfair County, Ga. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Thomas McElwaney. Services were at Tyrone First Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. James Burdette and the Rev. Keith Stell officiating. Interment was at Hopewell United Methodist Cemetery, Tyrone. Survivors include children, Lisa and Steven Gillis, RayLee McElwaney and Lela and David Bearden, all of Tyrone: grandchildren, Joshua Palmer, Corby McElwaney, Mitch McElwaney, Lori McElwaney, Steven McElwaney, Michael Bearden, Nickolas Bearden, and Christopher Bearden; mother, Mille Walker, Tyrone; and a half-sister, Ramal Lancaster, Ft. Douglas Pizar

Douglas Pizar, 58, Peachtree City. He was born May 29, 1943 in Providence, R. I. Memorial services were at Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church with the Rev. John Weber officiating. Survivors include a son, Scott Pizar, Newnan; a daughter, Nicole Pizar and Jeff Rainey, Newnan; grandchildren, Natalie Brooke Pizar, Malakhi Alexander Pizar, Harley Pizar Rainey, Seth Jackson Rainey; his mother, Yvette Pizar, Peachtree City; and a brother, Mike and Gail Pizar, Peachtree City. Samuel Thomas ‘Sam’ DeLoach

Samuel Thomas “Sam” DeLoach, 83, Peachtree City, died Sept. 1, 2001. He was born Aug. 28, 1918 in Fulton County. He was graduated from Boys High School, Atlanta, in 1936. He had served in World War II and was a retired colonel from the Georgia National Guard. He was retired from the Department of Defense, serving 28 years as an electronic engineer. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Peachtree City, serving as a deacon and elder. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell Chapel, Peachtree City, with the Rev. Don Smith officiating. Survivors include his wife, Mary Keathley DeLoach, Peachtree City; a son, Thomas Samuel DeLoach, Montgomery, Ala.; a daughter, Katherine Nancy DeLoach, Austin, Texas; and a sister-in-law, Katherine Keathley, Atlanta. Jason Ivey

Jason Ivey, 20, Luthersville, died Sept. 2, 2001, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born Feb. 15, 1981 in East Point. He had worked in construction as a framer and was Baptist. Graveside services were at Luthersville City Cemetery with the Rev. Ormand Hargrove officiating. Survivors include his father, Jerry Ivey, Hogansville; mother, Cindy Ivey, Luthersville; sister, Jessica Frazier, Luthersville; stepbrother, Chris Ivey, Ann Arbor, Mich.; and paternal grandmother, Jackie Ivey, Fayetteville. Martin & Hightower Funeral Home, Newnan, was in charge.

Michael David Smith

Michael David Smith, 36, Fayetteville, died Sept. 3, 2001. He was born Oct. 15, 1964 in Fulton County. He was a 1983 graduate of Fayette County High School and a firefighter, E.M.T. for Fayette and Heard counties for 10 years. Services were at Heritage Christian Church, Fayetteville, with the Rev. Greg Marksberry officiating. Survivors include his wife, Lisa Townsend Smith, Fayetteville; a son, Jacob Smith, Fayetteville; daughters Candice Smith and Lacy Smith, both of Fayetteville; parents, Bill and JoAnn Smith, Fayetteville; a brother, Billy Smith Jr., California; and sisters, Linda and Doug Hodgins, Meansville, Nancy Kintzle, Marietta, Stacy and Phil Wheeler and Kelly Yarborough, all of Fayetteville. William Horace Nelms

William Horace Nelms, 61, Grantville, died Sept. 4, 2001. He was born April 9, 1940 in Tampa, Fla. He worked as a mechanic at the Fayette County Board of Education and at one time owned a service station at Hwy. 54 and Jeff Davis Drive, Fayetteville. He enjoyed fishing. Services were at Hillcrest Chapel, Newnan, with the Rev. Tommy Smith and the Rev. Mark Anthony officiating. Interment was at Ebenezer United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Shirley Hosch Nelms, Grantville; a son, Allen and Gina Nelms, Fayetteville; stepsons, Henry Hosch, Grantville, and John and Denise Hosch, Meansville; parents, Horace and Elizabeth Hand Nelms, Fayetteville; a sister, Barbara Nelms, Fayetteville; a grandchild, Hannah Nelms, Fayetteville; and step-grandchildren, Elizabeth Hosch, Jeremiah Hosch, John Hosch, Nathan Hosch and Rebecca Hosch, all of Meansville. Blake Harville Marsh

Blake Harville Marsh, 40, Peachtree City, died Sept. 4, 2001. He was born July 15, 1961 in Fulton County. He was preceded in death by his father, George Elliott Marsh Sr. He was a 1979 graduate of Woodward Academy where he was a member of the wrestling and cross-country track team. He was a talented guitarist and artist and was the inspiration for Anchor Hospital, College Park, founded by his mother in 1986. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell Chapel, Peachtree City, with the Rev. Jim Dyer and the Rev. Jim Donovan officiating. Interment was at Holly Hill Cemetery, Fairburn. Survivors include his mother, Juanita Marsh, Peachtree City; brothers, Elliott and Susan Marsh, Brooks, and Brad Marsh and Betty Obenshain, Atlanta; a sister, Sherry and Ridge Boynton, Fayetteville; seven nephews and nieces.

Regie James Stidham

Regie James Stidham Jr., 79, Fayetteville, died Sept. 6, 2001. He was born Feb. 4, 1922 in Fort Mead, Fla. Services were at Carl J. Mowell Chapel, Fayetteville, with the Rev. Randy Cheek officiating. Interment was at Westminster Memorial Gardens, Peachtree City. Survivors include his wife, Doris Reeves Stidham, Fayetteville; a son, Regie A. and Pam Stidham, Fayetteville; daughters, Susan S. and Brumo Zimmerman, Switzerland and Jeanni and Phil Walters, Sterling, Va.; grandchildren, John Stidham and Kristin Stidham; and a sister, Louise and James Reeves, Adairsville. Christine H. Wallace

Christine H. Wallace, 79, Fayetteville, died Sept. 6, 2001. She was born June 7, 1922 in Ballground, Ga. Services were at the Parrott Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Wally Woodcock and the Rev. Wilson Wallace officiating. Interment was at Forest Lawn, College Park. Survivors include sons, Ronnie and Susan Wallace and Kenny and Nancy Wallace, all of Fayetteville; daughters, Rusty and Juanita Rogers and Becky Wallace, all of Fayetteville; and grandchildren, Brian Wallace, Christi Woodruff, Karen Wallace, Katie Wallace, and Matthew Woodruff.Memorial donations may be made to the Southwest Christian Hospice, 7225 Lester Road, Union City, GA 30291. Wilbur Bratton Shaw Sr.

Wilbur Bratton Shaw Sr., 74, Peachtree City, died Sept. 6, 2001. He was born Sept. 2, 1927 in Alabama. He was a veteran of World War II and was retired from teaching with 30 years in the Pennsylvania school system and 15 years in the Fayette County school system. He was an active member of the Flat Creek Baptist Church.Services were at the Carl J. Mowell Chapel, Peachtree City, with the Rev. John Trudewind and the Rev. Bill Priester officiating. Interment was at Westminster Memorial Gardens, Peachtree City. Survivors include his wife, Annette Stephens Shaw, Peachtree City; a son, Bratton Shaw, New Holland, Pa.; a daughter, Katie and Butch Trantham, Peachtree City; grandchildren, Kristin and Rob Hallquist, New Holland, Pa., Tyler Shaw, Exxon, Pa., and April Trantham, Amber Trantham, and Tray Trantham, all of Peachtree City; a great-granddaughter, Brooke Hallquist; and an uncle, Dr. Edward and Betty White, Mobile, Ala.
