John K. Bass

John K. Bass, 32, Tyrone, died Oct. 17, 2000. He was born March 19, 1968 in Fulton County, Ga.
Services were at the Parrott Funeral Home chapel with Minister George Dillard and Minister Bob Tyler officiating. Interment was at Sharon Memorial Gardens, Tyrone.
Survivors include his wife, Denise Peek Bass, Tyrone; children Matthew Williford and Jaime Williford, Tyrone; parents Joel and Shirley Bass, College Park; a brother, Samuel Craig and Stephanie Bass, Sharpsburg; and a nephew, Jay Bass, Sharpsburg.
Parrott Funeral Home, Fairburn, was in charge of the arrangements.

Vivian Ruth McClure

Vivian Ruth McClure, 84, Peachtree City, died Oct. 19, 2000. She was born July 10, 1916 in Olney, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis G. Johnson.
Memorial services were at Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church with the Rev. John Weber, the Rev. Miriam Beecher and the Rev. Derek Olsen officiating.
Survivors include a son, James “Jim” Johnson, Senoia; granddaughter, Kari Johnson, Dallas, Texas; and a sister, Edith Bettinger, Kerrville, Texas.
Memorial donations may be made to Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church, 101 Peachtree Pkwy., Peachtree City 30269.

Dorothy McGarity Harvey

Dorothy McGarity Harvey, 71, Newnan, died Oct. 22, 2000. She was born May 21, 1929 in Henry County, Ga.
Services were at the Hillcrest Chapel with the Rev. David Brown officiating. Interment was at Riverview Memorial Park, Smyrna, Ga.
Survivors include a daughter, Jacque and Jim Boynton, Newnan; a grandson, Jason Scot Boynton, Newnan; a granddaughter, Sheri and Randy Veal, Newnan; great-grandsons Brent Veal and John Thomas Veal, Newnan; brothers Bernard and Margaret McGarity, Powder Springs, Jim and Willa McGarity, Lilburn, and Ron McGarity, Conyers; and a sister, Margie and Richard Jones, Riverdale.
Martin and Hightower Hillcrest Chapel, Newnan, was in charge.

Ernest Bryan Perkins

Ernest Bryan Perkins, 83, Newnan, died Oct. 28, 2000. He was born Dec. 10, 1916. He had served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II and was a retired auto parts and supplies distributor. He had been a long time resident of the Atlanta area, moving to Newnan following his retirement. He had been a member of the Union United Methodist Church in Morris, Ga. for most of his life.
Graveside services were at the Union United Methodist Church Cemetery, Morris, Ga. with the Rev. Tom Shannon officiating.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Alvern Perkins, Newnan; a daughter and son-in-law, Lynn Perkins Taylor and Charles M. Taylor, Alpharetta; brothers James Perkins, Montgomery, Ala., Eugene Perkins, Eufaula, Ala., and Donald Perkins, Greenville, S.C.; sisters Dorothy Thurman, Tampa, Fla., and Faye Doswell, Abbeville, Ala.; and a granddaughter, Lauren Taylor, Alpharetta.
Jones Funeral Home, Newnan, was in charge.

William Russell

William Russell, 30, Palmetto, died Oct. 29, 2000. He was born Dec. 18, 1969 in Coweta County, Ga.
Services were at the Parrott Funeral Home chapel with pastor Raymond Hayes officiating. Interment was at Sharon Memorial Gardens, Tyrone, Ga.
Survivors include his wife, Cindy Russell, Palmetto; a son, Allen Russell, Palmetto; daughters Nikki Russell and Marylou Russell, Palmetto; mother Maryann Russell, Turin; stepfather Herman Allen, Turin; and brothers Steve Russell, Palmetto, Richard Russell, Senoia, Joe Russell and Jonathan Russell, both of Turin.

Franklin “Preacher” Combs

Franklin “Preacher” Combs, 82, Fairburn, died Oct. 29, 2000. He was born Sept. 22, 1918 in Washington, Ga.
Services were at the Parrott Funeral Home with interment at Carters Grove Baptist Church, Washington, Ga. Pastor David Dickerson officiated.
Survivors include his wife, Eleanor Combs, Fairburn; sons Johnny and Connie Combs, Huntington, Ind., and David and Sheila Combs, Jefferson, Ga.; a daughter, Gail and Jim Lane, Sharpsburg; and a brother, Calvin and Joann Combs, Washington, Ga. There are six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
