Wallace W. Benton, 79, Newnan, died Aug. 7, 2000. He was a native of Cairo, Ga. and was a retired textile mills supervisor. He was a member of the Sargent Baptist Church, past master of Mount Herman Masonic Lodge 304 in Columbus, Ga. and was affiliated with the Sylvan Lodge 429 in Newnan. Interment was at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Newnan, with full Masonic rites. The Rev. Harry White officiated. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Gladys Caldwell Benton, Newnan; children Nancy Hines, Douglasville, and Stan Benton, Augusta; grandchildren Phillip Benton, Keith Benton, Chance Hines and Piper Hines; great-grandchildren Calvin Hamrick, Kendall Hamrick, Mason Hines, Paden Hines, Ellijah Hines and Robert Condon. McKoon Funeral Home, Newnan, was in charge of the arrangements.
Malcom V. Leach
Malcolm V. Leach, 85, Newnan, died Aug. 9, 2000. He was born May 31, 1915 in Newnan, the son of James C. and Sallie O’Neil Leach. He was in sales for Murray Printing Co. and a member of the Newnan First United Methodist Church. Services were at Hillcrest Chapel with the Rev. Gary Parrish, the Rev. Larry Patton and the Rev. Bill Cureton officiating. Interment was at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Newnan. Survivors include his wife, Lavane Leach, Newnan; brothers Pete S. Leach, Byron, Ga., and O’Neil Leach, Montana; and a sister, Sarah Leach Jewell, Chattanooga, Tenn. Memorial donations may be made to the Building Fund, First United Methodist Church, 33 Greenville St., Newnan 30263. Martin and Hightower Hillcrest Chapel, Newnan, was in charge.
Mary Frances Perkins
Mary Frances Perkins, 84, Newnan, died Aug. 13, 2000. She was born Dec. 24, 1915 in Carroll County, Ga., the daughter of Joseph Daniel and Mary Jane Wilson Reeves. Graveside services were at Oak Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Melvin Payne officiating. Survivors include daughters Nancy Smith, Douglasville, and Mary Dell Harrell, Newnan; grandchildren Scott Perkins, Grantville, and Stephanie Harrell, Ellenwood; and a great-granddaughter, Amber Perkins, Newnan. Martin and Hightower Hillcrest Chapel, Newnan, was in charge.
Ruby Bishop
Ruby Bishop, 55, Senoia, died Aug. 13, 2000. She was born April 4, 1945 in Atlanta. Services were at the McKoon Funeral Home chapel with interment at Senoia City Cemetery. Survivors include her mother, Lillie Mae Bishop, Senoia; sons Danny Balsden, Springfield, Ga., and Tony Drew, Fayetteville; a daughter, Genia Johnson, Senoia; and brothers Jackie Bishop and Johnny Bishop, both of Senoia. There are 14 grandchildren. McKoon Funeral Home, Newnan, was in charge.
