Thomas Edward O’Neill

Thomas Edward O’Neill, 27, Lawrenceville, formerly of Fairburn, died April 14, 2000. He was born Feb. 13, 1973 in Fulton County, Ga. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 613.
Services were at the Carmichael-Hemperley Chapel with the Rev. Stacey Thomas officiating. Interment was at Holly Hill Memorial Park, Fairburn.
Survivors include his mother, Sybil Proux, Newnan; father and step-mother, Tom and Cynthia O’Neill, Grayson; sisters Amanda O’Neill and Jennie Robinson, both of Newnan; Rachel O’Neill, Grayson and Amy Beals, Monroe, girl friend, Susan Carlson; and paternal grandmother, Freda O’Neill, Atlanta.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 135 Bradford Square, Ste. B, Fayetteville, Ga. 30215.
Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home, Peachtree City, was in charge of the arrangements.

Ollie S. Calhoun

Ollie S. Calhoun, 67, Newnan, died April 18, 2000. She was born Aug. 30, 1932 in Carroll County, the daughter of Hugh and Sally Buchanan. She was known as the “First Lady” of Calvary Baptist Church.
Services were at the Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Bryan Calhoun, the Rev. Melvin Payne and the Rev. Henry Calhoun officiating. Interment was at the church cemetery.
Survivors include her husband, the Rev. Carl Calhoun, Newnan; children Melba Calhoun Bower, Bobby Calhoun and Terry and Vickie Calhoun, all of Newnan; a brother, Hugh Buchanan, Sargent, and sisters Elizabeth Steele and Clestele Reid, both of Carrollton, Barbara Staley, Newnan, and Gladys Vaughn, Ranburne, Ala.
There are 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Memorial donations may be made to the Calvary Baptist Church, 2736 Martin Mill Rd., Newnan 30263.
Martin and Hightower Hillcrest Chapel, Newnan, was in charge.

Hazel M. Rochester

Hazel M. Rochester, 90, East Point, died April 19, 2000. She was born Nov. 13, 1910 in Dallas, Paulding County, Ga., the daughter of Walter Lee and Julia Mae Parker Fincher.
Services were at the Donehoo-Lewis Chapel, Hapeville, with the Rev. Darwin Caldwell officiating. Interment was at College Park Cemetery.
Survivors include daughters Gwen and Louis Lyons, Sharpsburg, and Janet and Wylie Callahan, East Point; a brother-in-law, Doug Street, Cumming; grandchildren Louis Lyons Jr., Kerry Lyons, Christy Robertson and Michael Callahan; great-grandchildren Dixie Lyons, Will Lyons, Jake Callahan and Erica Callahan; and a nephew, Ron Street.

A. J. Scarbrough

A. J. Scarbrough, 76, Tyrone, died April 21, 2000. He was born June 3, 1923 in Forsyth County, Ga.
Services were at the Parrott Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Robert “Bob” Partridge and the Rev. Dr. James “Jim” Burdette officiating. Interment was at Sharon Memorial Gardens, Tyrone.
Survivors include his wife, Irene Blair Scarbrough, Tyrone; a son, Gary and Amy Scarbrough, Senoia; a daughter, Gail and Mike Wilson, Newnan; grandchildren Lane Hale, Justin Hale, Megan Scarbrough and Cody Scarbrough; and a great-granddaughter, Vanessa Hale.
Parrott Funeral Home, Fairburn, was in charge.

Inez Phillips

Lt. Cmdr. (Ret.) Inez Phillips, 73, died April 24, 2000. She was born Feb. 20, 1927 in Coweta County. She graduated from the Georgia Baptist School of Nursing and was retired from the United States Navy. She served in the Far East while in the Navy.
Services were at the McKoon Funeral Home, Newnan, with the Rev. Don Helms officiating. Interment was at Oak Hill Cemetery, Newnan.
Survivors include a nephew, Richard Phillips, Atlanta; nieces Dura Kissel, Hilda McWhorter and Debra Spavoni, all of Newnan; and sisters-in-law Helen Phillips, Newnan, and Joyce Phillips, Sargent.

Virgina B. Young

Virginia B. Young, 70, Newnan, died April 25, 2000. She was born July 27, 1929 in York, Ala., the daughter of the late William Earl and Ruby Jane Bishop. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John H. Young. She was retired from C&S Bank, NationsBank and Bank of America with 36 years of service.
Services were at the McKoon Funeral Home with Brother Edgar Waters officiating. Interment was at Holly Hill Memorial Park, Fairburn.
Survivors include a son, William B. and Ellen Young, Conyers, Ga.; a daughter, Karen and Steve Stanley, Sharpsburg, Ga.; brothers Bill Bishop and Larry Bishop; sisters Lisa Garrison, June Jenkins and Annette Newman; grandchildren Larry Lott, Chris Stanley, Kevin Stanley, John Young and Mary Young; and great-grandchildren Hunter Lott and Taylor Lott.
