James T. Swafford

James T. Swafford, 73, Griffin, died March 24, 2000. He was born Oct. 14, 1926 in Fulton County. He was the son of John and Evvie McElhanan Swafford. He was retired from Eastern Airlines with 17 years as a customer services agent.
Services were at the Carmichael-Hemperley Chapel with the Rev. Nesbit Odom officiating.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Swafford, Griffin; children June Mowery and Richard Swafford, both of Jacksonville, Fla.; stepchildren T. K. Pike, Sharpsburg, Jim Mike and Cathy East, both of Fayetteville; a brother, Bill R. Swafford, Daytona Beach, Fla.; a nephew, Charles Higgenbotham, Hampton; a niece, Mary Jennings, Franklin; and two grandchildren.
Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home, Peachtree City, was in charge.

Doris Bennett

Doris Bennett, 83, Forest Park, died March 20, 2000. She was born Aug. 7, 1916 in Jackson, Fla.
Graveside services were at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens, Forest Park.
Survivors include a son, Bobby Bennett, Spartanburgh, S.C., and Bill and Cindy Hopkins, Jonesboro; daughters Peggie and Frank Wilson, Newnan, Ann and Jimmy Mauldin, Fayetteville, Helen and Stanley Ware, LaGrange, Denise and Mike Thomas, Charleston, S.C., and Lois and Don E’Dalgo, Stockbridge; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Sarah Perry McCollum

Sarah Perry McCollum, 69, East Point, died March 21, 2000. She was born Aug. 6, 1930 in Bethpage, Sumner County, Tenn. She was the daughter of Wheeler and Vera Reddick Perry.
Services were at the Jefferson Avenue Baptist Church, East Point, with the Rev. Darwin Caldwell officiating. Further services were conducted at Alexander Funeral Home, Galatin, Tenn.
Survivors include her husband, John Howard McCollum; children Daniel H. McCollum, Woodstock, Thomas W. McCollum, Lilburn, and Becky M. Maxwell, East Point; a brother, Russell Perry, Bethpage, Tenn.; sisters Beth West, Senoia, Molly Woodard and Paula Powell, both of Bethpage, Tenn; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Donnehoo-Lewis Funeral Home, Hapeville, was in charge.

William E. Stevens Jr.

William E. Stevens Jr., 53, Senoia, died March 30, 2000. He was born June 30, 1945 in Winona, Miss.
Graveside services were at the Senoia City Cemetery with personal friends officiating.
Survivors include a son, Jeff Stevens; daughters Melissa Kay Smith, Douglasville, Elizabeth Ann Jones, Orchard Hill, Spalding County, and Angie Stevens, and a sister, Jo Beth and Ralph Jones, Newnan.

Helen Catherine Hight

Helen Catherine Hight, 77, Newnan, died April 2, 2000. She was born Jan. 7, 1923 in Fayetteville, the daughter of Lee and Mary Moore Tate. She was retired as a cashier.
Graveside services were at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Newnan, with Ken Norton officiating.
Survivors include a son, Rivington Hight Jr., Toyko, Japan; daughters Rita Hight and David Deacon and Kelley Hight and Phil Gaddy, all of Newnan; a brother, Carlton Tate, Newnan; grandchildren Natalie Alexander and Carey Teeter, both of Jacksonville, Fla., David Deacon III, Newnan, Ian Hight and Rivington Hight III, both of Toyko, Japan, and Maria Hight, Boston, Mass.; and great-grandchildren Anna Alexander, Caroline Teeter and Catherine Teeter, all of Jacksonville, Fla. and Kimberly Deacon, Newnan.

Janice Brooks Wilson

Janice Brooks Wilson, 62, Newnan, died April 4, 2000. She was born March 12, 1938 in Newnan. She was preceded in death by her father, Oscar Richard Brooks. She was a member of the Fellowship Sunday School Class.
Services were at the East Newnan Baptist Church with the Rev. Frank Powers and the Rev. Jerry Lassetter officiating. Interment was at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Newnan.
Survivors include her husband, Hugh D. “Pete” Wilson, Newnan; her mother, Ruth Kimble Brooks, Newnan; daughters Marcia and Stan Smith, Dawn and Billy Thomas and Beth Costlow, all of Newnan; a brother, Tony R. Brooks, Newnan; and grandchildren Deanne Smith, Drew Smith, Ally Thomas, Caroline Thomas and Chandler Costlow.

Erma Thomas Boyd

Erma Thomas Boyd, 89, died April 4, 2000. She was born April 1, 1911 in Alabama.
Graveside services were at Floral Hills Cemetery, Lawrenceville, with the Rev. Jerry Walker officiating.
Survivors include a son, A. C. Boyd, Sharpsburg; daughters Jean Boyd Reese, Orlando, Fla., and Betty Boyd Thrash, Ponce City, Okla.; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Jimmie Shell

Jimmie Shell, 78, Turin, died April 5, 2000. She was born Feb. 1, 1922 in Georgia. She was preceded in death by a brother, Page Shell.
Services were at the Turin Baptist Church with the Rev. John McDuffie officiating. Interment was at Turin Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include sisters Helen Shell Harris, Turin, and Frances Shell Kinder, Kingstree, S.C.; and nephews Ben Harris, Carrollton, Ga., and George Harris, Turin.

Bessie Livingston

Bessie Livingston, 96, Moreland, died April 7, 2000. She was born Oct. 8, 1903 in Floyd County, Ga., the daughter of Benjimen and Belle Sorrell Thompson. She was retired from the cotton textile industry.
Services were at the Hillcrest Chapel with the Rev. Powers Witcher officiating. Interment was at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Newnan.
Survivors include nephews and nieces.
