Mary Elizabeth Lord Hogan

Mary Elizabeth Lord Hogan, 76, Riverdale, died March 20, 2000. She was born Nov. 17, 1923 in Fulton County, Ga., the daughter of Joseph Clarence and Tommie Belle Smith Lord. She was retired from Owens-Illinois with 25 years of service and was a member of the Riverdale United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, James F. Hogan.
Services were at the Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Dr. Stanley R. Hahn officiating. Interment was at Greenwood Cemetery, Atlanta.
Survivors include her children, Joseph and Betty Holliday, Jonesboro, Sandra H. and Dick Orr, Peachtree City, Mike and Nancy Hogan, Mabelton, Janet and Joe Chapman, Riverdale, and Randy and Carol Hogan, Sharpsburg.
There are 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Evelyn Shell

Evelyn Shell, 83, Fairburn, died March 20, 2000. She was born Dec. 5, 1916 in Heard County.
Services were at the Parrott Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Dr. Judson “Jay” Hodges Jr., the Rev. John Giglio and the Rev. Burchard Berry officiating. Interment was at Holly Hill, Fairburn.
Survivors include her daughters, Charlyn and the Rev. Harvey West, Alpharetta, Linda and Ray White, Fairburn, and Barbara and Charlie Biggs, Tyrone; a sister, Christine Turner, Newnan; and grandchildren Mark and Shayne West, Savannah, Michael West, Athens, Christy West, Alpharetta, Jennifer and David Steed, Sharpsburg, Shannon and Chris Cope, Fairburn, Kathy White Fairburn, and David Biggs and Bethany Biggs, Tyrone. There are four great-grandchildren.

Robert O. Durnwald

Robert O. Durnwald, 67, Whitesburg, died March 20, 2000. He was born May 2, 1932 in Vickery, Ohio, the son of the late Alfred A. and Cecilia K. Durnwald. He was preceded in death by a brother, William Durnwald.
He was retired as a senior master sergeant from the United States Air Force in 1972 after 21 years of service. He served in both Korea and Vietnam, where he received the Bronze Star. He was also a manager for Motorola Inc. for 17 years and enjoyed woodworking and traveling.
A funeral mass was at St. George Catholic Church, Newnan, with the Rev. Leo Herbert officiating. Interment was at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Newnan, with the United States Air Force Honor Guard rendering full military honors.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Delores Durnwald, Whitesburg; sons Randall M. Durnwald, Sugar Hill, Michael J. Durnwald, Alpharetta, and Jeffery P. Durnwald, Cumming; a daughter, Linda A. Edmonds, Newnan; brothers Richard Durnwald, Fremont, Ohio, and James Durnwald, Clyde, Ohio; and a sister, Rita Myers, Beloit, Ohio. There are 11 grandchildren.

Donald J. “Pop” Ruehle

Donald J. “Pop” Ruehle, 80, Newnan, died March 24, 2000. He was born April 5, 1919 in Allegan, Mich. He attended Michigan State University and was a captain in the United States Army during World War II. He later served in the Michigan National Guard and was a member of Legion of Leaders of Chevrolet Motor Division and an avid sports fan.
Grave side services were at the Crawford Baptist Church Cemetery in Crawfordville, Ga. with the Rev. James C. J. Elder officiating.
Survivors include a son, the Rev. Dr. David L. Ruehle, Thomson, Ga.; a daughter, Judith Ann Ruehle-Worth, Newnan, Ga.; a sister, Marcelle Evans, Allegan, Mich.; and grandchildren Michelle Worth Riede, Michael Worth, Martin Worth, Stewart Ruehle and Megan Ruehle.

Florence Mae Godbee

Florence Mae Godbee, 85, Newnan, died March 21, 2000. She was born Dec. 26, 1914 in Georgia. She was retired from the textile industry.
Services were at the McKoon Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Bob Martin officiating. Interment was at Oak Hill Cemetery, Newnan.
Survivors include cousins and close friends.

Allen C. Sickel

Capt. Allen C. Sickel, 58, Newnan, died March 25, 2000. He was born Oct. 2, 1941 in Savannah, Ga. He was preceded in death by his father, Allen A. Sickel.
He was retired from Delta Air Lines after 25 years of service. He was a graduate of Georgia Institute of Technology and flew an F-4 fighter plane in the United States Air Force.
A memorial service will be at a later date.
Survivors include his wife, Claire Sickel, Newnan; daughters Kathryn Sickel, Jeanne Sickel and Meredith Sickel; stepchildren Kim Barrand and Brian Preto; grandchildren Michael and Audrey; his mother, Billie Adcock; and a brother, James Sickel.
