Robert and Annette Stamey of Fayetteville announce the engagement and upcoming marriage of their daughter, Laura Nicole Stamey, to Chet Joseph Ripka of Fayetteville, son of Robert and Nancy Ripka of Syracuse, N.Y. and Anthony and Kathy Baldino also of Syracuse.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of James and Barbara Rocker of Conyers and Evelyn McFarland of Union City, and the late Lester Stamey. She is a 2002 graduate of Fayette County High and a 2005 graduate of Gordon College in Barnesville, with an associates of science in chemistry. She will graduate from the University of West Georgia in Carrollton in May, 2008, with a bachelor of science in chemistry with an American Chemical Society certification.

The future groom is the grandson of the late Dominick and Theresa Polimino and the late John Barilla of Syracuse, N.Y. and Grace Ripka and the late Chester Ripka of East Syracuse N.Y., and Anthony and Josephine Baldino of Syracuse. He is a 2004 graduate of the State University of New York at Potsdam with a bachelor of arts in history. He presently is employed as a communications officer for the City of Fairburn.

The wedding will be Saturday, Oct. 27, 2007, at Whitewater Creek Country Club in Fayetteville. A dinner reception will follow the ceremony.

The couple will reside in Fayetteville.
