Along with the rest of the world, your Fayette County Board of REALTORS® is set on a new path with new resolutions, promises and a new President. Patti Harris Ayers was elected President for 2007, inaugurated in December of 2006, and begins her “reign” this month. A Georgia grown native, Ayers graduated from Fayette County High School and Georgia Tech with a BS in Industrial Management. This May, she celebrates her 20th anniversary as a REALTOR® , and has the following designations of Certified Residential Broker (CRB) and Greater Realtor Institute (GRI) graduate and owns her own business, Patti Ayers & Associates, Inc.

Fans of the HGTV program “House Hunters” may recognize the area in an upcoming episode of the television show, because local realtor Terry Marlowe showed former Georgia Bulldog and New England Patriot Hason Graham and his wife, Kenya, homes in the same school district they resided in in Fayetteville. They will appear in the episode “Family Needs Larger Digs,” which airs this week.

Why are there so many houses listed to be sold on the market? The mortgage industry experienced record low 30 year fixed rates in 2003. Many fixed rates fell below 5.5%. P. George Benson, Dean of the University of Georgia’s Terry College of Business recently stated in his 2007 State Economic Outlook that the extremely low fixed rates during this time created a market which allowed homeowners to buy houses that normally would not have been afforded and bought until later years.

As my year as President draws to a close, I thought it would be a good time to summarize the state of real estate in our area. But after further consideration, I realized that since we have begun our articles for “you” the customers and clients that has been the topic covered for the last 3 months.

Ramona Frey, a local realtor with Century 21 Scarbrough Properties recently attended a Seminar entitled “Unleash the Power Within” presented by Tony Robbins , a world renowned personal coach who is among the top 50 Business Intellectuals in the world.

Kalynn Alarcon, Relocation Director with CENTURY 21 Southern Crescent, has earned the professional designation of CGRN® Relocation Director, which qualifies her to provide customers and clients with specialized relocation and referral services throughout the CENTURY 21® system.

Lee Johnson, CENTURY 21 Southern Crescent, recently completed the Resort & Second Home Property Specialist course, which is a new certification offered by the National Association of Realtors®. Lee joined sixty-five other REALTORS® from across the country and the Bahamas in New Orleans for an intense two day training in marketing strategies to better serve the growing second home and resort market.

Imagine being in the limits of the state’s largest metropolitan area while having deer and dozens of migrating birds as next-door neighbors. While to most this seems like a fantasy, in one of Fayette County’s newest communities, Edgewood, this is a way of life.
