Race for Riley kicks off at Sprayberry'sSat, 02/20/2010 - 4:27pm
By: Ben Nelms
It is almost time for the annual Race for Riley fundraiser to benefit the Joseph Sams School in Fayetteville. A pre-event fundraiser will be held Feb. 22 from 5-8 p.m. at the Sprayberry’s Barbecue location on Ga. Highway 34 across from Walmart near I-85 in Newnan. Now in its sixth year, the Race for Riley fundraiser to be held in April at the Georgia Baptist Children’s Home in Palmetto attracts thousands for the 5K Walk/Run, live music, auctions, food and entertainment for the entire family. Sprayberry’s at its Hwy. 34 on Feb. 22 will be donating 20 percent of all food proceeds for dine in or carry-out to the fundraiser. Guests are asked to mention the Race for Riley at checkout. Riley’s parents, Chattahoochee Hills residents Waynette and Rodney Peek, several years ago designated the proceeds of the event to go to Riley’s school, the Joseph Sams School in Fayetteville.
