Have some faith in your decorator

“I am praying my contractor shows up,” people in the midst of remodeling contracts will likely say. Or you’ll hear, “I have to have faith the kitchen tile will arrive before the holidays.”

But more recently, the Wall Street Journal says, a stronger, more blatant, spiritual connection is emerging in home decor.

Interior designers are installing prayer closets, where people can go for daily prayer, home altars and wallpaper etched with biblical passages. Some people want draperies in colors referenced in the Bible, amber and crimson. They are buying plants such as holly and monkshood that are mentioned in the Bible.

Some designers are marketing themselves as experts in injecting religion into design. Some go in to bless the home and clear out negative energy when it’s done.

It’s all part of the rise in religious themes and spiritual consciousness in America, WSJ says. In an April Gallup poll, 42 percent of more than 1,000 respondents described themselves as evangelical Christians.
