New diploma, new math and now a new salary schedule.

I’m afraid that this new diploma and new math curriculum have doomed a population of our kids. If they have to pass Math I, II, and III, I fear they will not ever be able to graduate. I understand why it came about and I understand why there is only one diploma track (law suits), but I still hate it and find it unfair to my kids. I can teach them the math skills they need to pass the graduation test. I can teach them the math skills they need to be mathematically functional in today’s world. But this new math curriculum.....I may as well be speaking Greek to them. When they ask me when they are ever going to use it my reply is always the same...to graduate from high school. They will not use it to balance their checkbooks or budget their grocery money. I teach the math I’m told to teach and my sweet little kids sit there and take it. I measure progress in teaspoons, not leaps and bounds.

Registration for Fayette County Youth Softball will be held at the softball complex at McCurry Park on McDonough Road this Saturday January 23 from 10:00 until 4:00 and Sunday January 24 from 1:00 until 4:00.

It is very apparent why our young students at FCHS have no regard for our country or our flag. During the National Anthem tonight at FCHS basketball game the assistant administrator was talking on his cell phone.

I just read the article on Palmetto's Fire Chief Henry Argo. I would like the tax paying citizens in Fayetteville to know if you were not aware this man used to be the Fire Chief in the City of Fayetteville and left to better himself because the City of Fayetteville was not aware of what a fine and outstanding Fire Chief they had.

Andrew Jackson, one who would by his words and actions protect constitutional freedoms and our monetary unit. During his presidency, Jackson viewed as his crowning achievement that he “killed” the 2nd bank of US, and with it the efforts of Congress and special money interests to establish a paper money system, instead of the constitutional requirement that money be only gold and silver.

I've just learned the worst news I've heard yet about the new Sheriff's Administration. EVERYONE SHOULD READ THIS!! There was a break-in after hours in the new courthouse a few weeks ago.

Considering what has happened to many--mostly--people of color in Haiti, it seems paranoid, petty, and pathetic to bring this up NOW! And yes we can discuss race in this country.

It's 4:00 in Fayetteville. Southbound traffic on GA-85 is stopped. My friend is turning left onto Hambersham drive. The folks headed south stop, and wave him on so he can turn left. As he's turning (everybody is stopped in both lanes), he gets broadsided by a car traveling *on the shoulder* south. The white line was solid before Habersham, "breaks" at the entrance, and not even ten yards past the entrance turns into a turn lane for CVS and Checkers.

Mark my words - Union members will be exempt from these new taxes on "Cadillac" health plans. Obama will take care of his union buddies and hang the rest of us out to dry.

Remedy is thrilled to be making our first performance at Motorheads in McDonough, GA. Well known throughout the area for their great music, fun atmosphere and friendly patrons, Motorheads has long been a favorite of many local area bands who appreciate playing for an electric crowd who love good music and a good time. The band has been working particularly hard recently learning new music and plan to bring the house down with outstanding material from The Who, Jeff Healey Band, and Eric Clapton, in addition to playing fan favorites from Rush, Zeppelin, Stevie Ray Vaughn, The Black Crowes, and more.
