A south Fayette teen was injured Thursday afternoon when his four wheeler was struck by a truck on Ga. Highway 92 South near the Flint General Store.

The victim, identified by police as Steven Taylor, was in stable condition but was taken to Grady Hospital in Atlanta as a precaution because of the type of injury he suffered, said Assistant Chief Allen McCullough of the Fayette County Department of Fire and Emergency Services.

Witnesses said Taylor was traveling south on the highway when he pulled to the right edge of the road as if to let other vehicles pass by, police said. As the truck passed Taylor, the four-wheeler swerved into the path of the truck, causing the collision, witnesses told police.

The driver of the truck, Anthony Charles Calabro, 48, of Fayetteville, was not seriously injured.

Traffic was rerouted around the wreck scene through the store's parking lot while Taylor was treated and deputies began investigating the crash.

Taylor was not wearing a helmet at the time, officials said.

The crash is being investigated by the Fayette County Sheriff's Department.
