Local Student Receives Ranking in National French Contest

Katherine Myers, a 10th grade student at Starr's Mill High School, has ranked nationally in the 67th annual Grand Concours, a national competition sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of French.

Judges at the competition ranked Myers' mastery of the French language as eighth in the nation and third in Georgia. Competitors were evaluated on their written, oral and listening comprehension skills.

Over 94,000 students in all 50 states competed in the 2002 event. Myers is a student of Marie Scott, French teacher at Starr's Mill High School.
