By JOHN THOMPSON

Fulton County employees who are Reservists participating in the nation's assault on terrorists will receive county funds to make up any difference between their gross military pay and their gross county pay.

The Fulton Commission voted unanimously Nov. 7 to take the action, presented in a resolution sponsored by Commissioner Karen Elaine Webster and Chairman Mike Kenn. Both are at-large commissioners, representing the entire county.

Seventeen of the approximately 92 Fulton employees who are Reservists had been called to active duty as of Nov. 7.

The county will provide the supplementary pay for up to 180 days after the employees use all of their 18 days of county-paid military leave time. They will be allowed to maintain other benefits, such as health, vision and dental insurance coverage, and return to full-time status when their active duty ends, as permitted by applicable provisions of federal and state law.
