Death balances the books of life

Monday, Jan. 29, I spoke the following words at the funeral service of my oldest sister, Alice McGuirt Stow. They may be helpful to others. So I share with you my readers. Death is a bookkeeper of life. Death balances the books. The books of our lives. In one clean swoop, death--a good death--cleans all the books.

Cornerstone Bible Church to host Feb. 4 study on helping today's youth distinguish right from wrong

Cornerstone Bible Church will host a study based on John McDowell's book, "Right From Wrong," on Sunday evening, Feb. 4, at 7 p.m. The study concerns what parents need to know in order to help youth make right choices in their lives. Parents, grandparents, and others who work with youth are encouraged to attend.

Peachtree City First Baptist divorce seminar, revival start this weekend

A free divorce seminar on "Dynamics of Divorce,' presented by Jerry Drace, will be held at the First Baptist Church of Peachtree City on Saturday, Feb. 3, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. The seminar is intended to provide guidance for those struggling with the challenges of divorce and will be held at the church on Willowbend Rd.

F'ville UMC to offer health screening

The Fayetteville First United Methodist Church will offer health screenings by Life Line Screening on Saturday, Feb. 10 at the church.

Vivaldi's 'Gloria' to be performed at Holy Trinity

A free choral and instrumental performance of Vivaldi's "Gloria" is scheduled in the sanctuary of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Peachtree City on Saturday evening, Feb. 17, at 8 p.m.

Atlanta Passion Play tickets on sale now

Fayette and other south metro Atlanta residents interested in attending this year's performance of the Atlanta Passion Play can order tickets now. Tickets went on sale Jan. 12 by phone, mail order, or at the Atlanta Passion Play box office on Peachtree Rd. in Atlanta. Box office hours are 9 a.m. until 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
